Description Well, here's my piece that apparently didn't make it into the Udon Megaman Tribute book, so I figure it's alright to go ahead and post it!
CONFIRMED 4/21/11: This one did NOT make it into the book, evidenced by the full list of winners released today, so I'm pulling it out from storage.

Really hoping they do another Street Fighter Tribute down the line. I'll pull out all the stops for that one...!
(Because last time I was stuck illustrating some God-awful children's book about the most linguistically- and logically-challenged talking dogs ever. Never again.)

Strangely enough, he doesn't have the buster... not that you really need it with infine missiles, but still.

This is absolutely stunning. I love how Juno's smiling even as he raises hellfire against Volnut, exactly as he was in the actual game. Very well done.

I just gotta say, the moment I saw this pic while browsing your gallery was a moment of "Ohmygod YES! Someone did this justice! I have yet to see someone do even close to this awesome of fanart for Juno, let alone his final form, and this one is definitely an auto-fave for this MML junkie.

Replayed it last month.
Unfortunately, it didn't hold up for me all that well. Story and art were still fun, but the gameplay was just too cumbersome for my current tastes...

Your art has certainly come a long way since the Sora vs Raven days my friend. Very slick to look at.

Speaking of which are you still a KH fan or has that died for you?

MichaelMayne In reply to DonCactuar [2011-04-27 23:44:09 +0000 UTC]

Thank ya much!

Still a KH fan. At least of the originals. BbS is the only recent game in the franchise that ever held my interest.

DonCactuar In reply to MichaelMayne [2011-04-30 15:16:12 +0000 UTC]

You're in the same boat as me. Supposedly Dream Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS is going to be just as substancial and meaningful for the central plot of KH series as Birth by Sleep was.

In addition to that, there's popular theory that another game for the series hinted to be called "Birth by Sleep Volume 2" is on the way due to the Secret Ending of BBS Final Mix.

That said, while a flawed series, I still get some decent enjoyment out of it which is what a videogame is supposed to do.

But question, do you play other genres like say platformers? Or other games besides KH?

Legends as a concept is my favorite Megaman series. That said, I wish the gameplay were as solid as I remembered.

You're welcome!

Same here, same here!
Gameplay...I actually like the control scheme, it works really well for me but then again I've only played Legends on the Nintendo 64. I haven't tried any of the Playstation versions yet

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MichaelMayne In reply to ShiningRiku [2011-04-28 00:21:20 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I never played the N64 version. I wonder how I'd like those controls. The Playstation version was pre-analog control, I think. Moving around is rather clunky.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShiningRiku In reply to MichaelMayne [2011-04-28 04:15:47 +0000 UTC]

I'm really gonna have to find some way to play the PS1 version of Megaman Legends. Are the controls of Legends 1&2 the same?

Cuz If I somehow manage to get Legends 2, then i'd be able to get an idea for how the first one plays

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MichaelMayne In reply to ShiningRiku [2011-04-28 04:17:54 +0000 UTC]

No idea. Never played 2. Just 1 and Tron Bonne.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShiningRiku In reply to MichaelMayne [2011-04-28 04:29:00 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha, I haven't played the Misadventures of Tron Bonne but I did watch playthoughs of Legends 2 and Tron's game. Very entertaining XD.
One of the things that stands out most for me is the characters of the Legends games. They're quite lively

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MichaelMayne In reply to ShiningRiku [2011-04-28 04:51:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yes! I love the facial animations on Legends.
It was quite a unique, interesting way in which they were handledβ€”from what I can tell each textured expression was tailored for whatever angle the camera was to be in for a particular shot. Open mouths actually looked like they had depth on an otherwise flat surface.

The graphics were very impressive for their time, and still have a lasting charm today, even if the technology itself made real-time texture renders look funkyβ€”you'll notice it on walls and planes that have large textures stretched across them; they tend to warp and distort pretty badly.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShiningRiku In reply to MichaelMayne [2011-04-28 05:09:01 +0000 UTC]

I never noticed that D: That's amazing for that time period in gaming if you ask me.

And I agree, they were impressive. They still are in their own way ^_^
Huh, that's another thing i'm gonna have to look into. I didn't notice anything strange with textures as far as the N64 version went, I think there were a few graphical changes between the versions but i'm not sure what all of them are (one's a smaller render distance)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MichaelMayne In reply to ShiningRiku [2011-04-28 05:50:11 +0000 UTC]

I don't think N64 had that texture problem. I think it was a Playstation thing. N64's issue with textures was that they were always blurry.
