Description
Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm. (Publilius Syrus ~100BC)This is one of my oldest images. It's kinda where I began with my style of art, using my own brand of techniques in Photoshop. This also has some 3D mixed in including the masts and ropes.
Thank you for Daily Deviation #1!
This being one of my first deviations ever submitted, I was happy to see it reach 1,000 favorites after exactly 3 years to the day it was submitted.

Your art is eye-catching and beautifully done. I love art that features ships and the sea, but I also know that it's very difficult to paint something that is original rather than clichΓ©. This painting, though, doesn't look clichΓ©. It looks gorgeous and I love it.
(I didn't even know this was a DD, lol I was browsing through your gallery and this caught my eye. It just occurred to me to check -- after typing the first half of this comment, lol Congratulations on the DD! It's well-deserved!)

ok here is my two cents ... first off I love this image and think you chose the right idea ....
if it was me I would have ditched the rocks or ditched the sails .... a tail ship with that much wind in it sails wouldnt ever be that close to land.... so the rocks go.
second thought is if it was "anchored" then the sails would be down... then I could believe it would have been tossed about that close to land.
all in a great piece !!!

Very nice! I love that you made it a pirate flag at the top instead of one belong to, say, the Royal Navy. However, I would've like to see the water with more detail...it sorta looks like frosted glass. :/ But I love it nonetheless!

Absolutely excellent. Brilliant lighting and I love the subtle effects of the sea contrasting with the harsh atmosphere of the storm.

Awesome ship, awesome sky and water. What else is there to say? The colors are great; it does look a lot like an oil painting.
