osm!
quick question: What is an infrared picture and IR photography? I know what infrared light rays are. Is infrared a setting on your camera or on photoshop?

Hi HoudVanKunst!
I use a digital camera with infrared filter no film camera. My infrared filter is a very strong no name filter (ebay about 25 Dollar) with about 950nm which filters/stops all visible light. And I use grey filters 2x, 4x and 8x depending on the strength of the sun light to stop to much light coming into the camera.
I do all my ir shots only in the 'night shot modus' (not in the night framing modus) of my Sony Camera where the internal ir blocking filter is clapping away from the sensor and the camera is very very very sensitiv for all light. I have to be careful of not to much light coming into the camera - it may destroy the sensor. But if I put the ir filter on the lens there will be no problems.
I never use the automatic modus because my camera puts up the ISO automatically. And the pictures will be to grainy. I use always the P modus and 64 ISO as my ir standard.
Because the original ir pics coming out of the camera are green and monochrome I have to change with PhotoShop the colors. Sometimes I work on two color levels: blue for the sky and pink for the trees. I crop the sky.
These are all my "infrared-secrets". But I never made a secret out of this.

This is one of the best uses of IR I've seen.
