As always, great work. The largest creature at the top reminds me of something from the Fossil record.

Oh, there's just similar part, not the same. And it's fantasy world, not sci-fi, as your.
My project is called "EWU-Extradimensional Weird University". If you are intrested in, you can look at some sketches and concepts on my page)

Your art seems to be getting... "cleaner",which is a good thing. I mean it looks less sketchy and a bit more crisp. :]

MickMcDee In reply to RawrReaper [2011-11-05 16:23:51 +0000 UTC]

thats right! its the reproductive system! when the breed is ready this thing just explodes and the offspring is free!

think youre right... love the alien movies, even if they scared the shit out of me, when i saw them as a 13-year-old-kid . . . nightmares!!!

RawrReaper In reply to MickMcDee [2011-11-10 07:14:14 +0000 UTC]

haha yeah me too. but what one particular movie scared me was 'Signs'. good movie...

MickMcDee In reply to RawrReaper [2011-11-11 07:50:23 +0000 UTC]

all of my friends say "signs" is boring, but i definately like it - the atmosphere is great and the metaphoric way they use the word "signs" makes it quite special

RawrReaper In reply to MickMcDee [2011-11-11 08:55:31 +0000 UTC]

i thought it was a great movie. the 'weakness' of the aliens was very creative as well. but its a typical sci fi movie so of course they have no 'clothes on.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MickMcDee In reply to RawrReaper [2011-11-13 13:40:28 +0000 UTC]

the weakness was water, wasnt it? but, hows that possible? maybe the aliens where based on liquids like methane or something else

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RawrReaper In reply to MickMcDee [2011-11-14 03:11:40 +0000 UTC]

could be, but most alien movies don't have much logic in them though. maybe they were from a harsh barren evironment.

I'm guessing the plants down the bottom rise high from the ground and reach the cloud layer? A very interesting ecosystem. The large creature in the foreground somewhat resembles a giant angelfish. Is that what you based it on?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MickMcDee In reply to Pyrovilekiller [2011-11-02 23:02:22 +0000 UTC]

yeah, thats exactly what they were bases on
and yes, the plants are growing from the bottom into the clouds

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pyrovilekiller In reply to MickMcDee [2011-11-03 02:14:04 +0000 UTC]

If there were big creatures living permanently in the air I would imagine they would be filter-feeders. The flying skewers from 'alien planet' were very agile but I couldn't imagine how a creature could exact it's movements with a large weight 'prey' on it's proboscis.

Skewers are very cool though. My second favourite creature (after the Rime Runner which doesnt feature in Alien planet but can be seen on the wikipedia article for 'Darwin IV creatures'

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MickMcDee In reply to Pyrovilekiller [2011-11-05 16:22:37 +0000 UTC]

i know the skewers, but their way to hunt and eat seems to be not plausible...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pyrovilekiller In reply to MickMcDee [2011-11-07 07:17:59 +0000 UTC]

The series 'the future is wild' is quite good at taking risks with making creatures since the show doesn't focus on how life would evolve without us, but just different animal adaptations used in different scenarios to make the series interesting.

Also I am attempting to create a fictional 'planet' complete with its own landscapes, ecosystems, landforms ect. I want to make everything feasible withe the laws of science as well. You can check my latest journal entry and see if everthing is 'right'
