Min grew up in a very strict, strait-laced household, raised by a single mother who expected nothing less than perfection. His mother and father divorced when he was only two years old; while their marriage was initially happy, it quickly broke down due to his father's newfound drinking and gambling habits, which often left them riddled with debt. Afterwards, his mother's personality completely changed from cheerful and compassionate to a cold and often detached woman, rarely displaying any motherly affection towards Min. She enrolled him into an overwhelming amount of after-school lessons - determined to make him as unlike his father as possible, who had minimal education. She is very vocal about her criticism of him and rarely gives him praises even when he exceeds, expecting more from him than Min can provide. Min, lacking in a healthy relationship with his parents, found comfort with friends instead, and joined many clubs at school to minimise his time at home. He quickly fell in love with sports - he absolutely adored the adrenaline rush that came with a hundred-meter sprint, the feeling of accomplishment from crossing the finish line in first place, the strong bond between him and his team-mates after a particularly difficult match. He joined as many clubs as he could - be it volleyball, swimming, tennis or even dance - he loved them all, and often secretly skipped his after-school lessons for practice. Sports greatly improved his confidence in himself despite his mother's constant criticisms, and he grew up to be an extroverted and friendly individual. Upon reaching high school, Min's mother was frustrated with the amount of time Min spent playing sports, believing academic clubs to be much more beneficial. She forced him quit basketball and swimming club, and only allowed him to continue track & field if he joined the publications club. Although initially upset, Min grew to love the publications club and became friends with many like-minded people who loved sports as much as he did.
