I think that it's very interesting and important to look at WIPs and draft of pieces, as it gives away secrets to how the artist thinks and approaches making their work as well as the techniques they used to achieve the end result.So if anybody is interested in how I created this piece RWBY Ruby Rose , here is the draft that I used to make it.

Why is there a splined barrel? That's something that goes on a gearbox shaft mate! Not something you'd machine onto the inside of a gun barrel.

More or less. This is, in fact, my default style which is very heavily manga influenced so it would be a natural consequence. There are some western influences as well but I take pride in that my artwork sits very close to legit 'real manga' from japan.
Coz some times you see some works where the artist tried to put their own spin on manga, and you can definitely see what they were trying to do and appreciate it, and some of them look really darn good. But for some reason, deep down you know that it doesn't seem to 'work'.
I just wanted my style to feel purer and more rooted in its visual heritage by emphasising the fundamentals of what makes manga manga. And then repackage it to be more accessible for the western audience.
I still feel like I'm a little off the mark and people may think completely otherwise to my opinions. But yeah, that's my stance on it.

I prefer this one slightly more as well tbh. But the block render problem meant that I had to make changes (see above comments).

The rendering on her face does make it look more interesting. But I knew that if i tried to block render her face like that, she would look like a black and white minstrel.

The first thing I noticed was the movement lines at the tip of her weapon on the still. It just... adds to it. I guess.

if I remember correctly, those were actually the construction lines I made whilst building the weapon.
