COW topic: Portal creatorI thought an insect-like creature that similar to a spiders web, weaves portals to which it can retreat or use to capture prey. It would have a mutlitude of portals that all lead to one spot like a hive.

the book may have been Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, it has a spider like creature called the weaver that can move through dimensions.
