Thanks,
I appreciate it. It's still a bit hard for me to recognize that I "have" a style..but I hear it often enough that it must be true lol

I like the design of this one a lot.
The shape and the various gadgets and or items he has are very balanced. And what I mean is, you'd expect an ogre like creature as you have him to wear that kind of face mask and have primitive yet technologically advanced looking bombs.

Thanks,
Yea. One thing though is although he's a HEAVY dude, the weight of the bomb sack technically would really hinder his movement along with his body weight in general. Though I intended for this to be a supposed Game Character, so I guess those things aren't such a big deal. What I was thinking was, while he's throwing or hitting these mines/bombs at you and they activate once hit. You need to work you're way around a kind of exploding mine field maze to get close enough to him to knock him down making him drop a few bombs that would explode and drain some of his energy. The original look just came from the idea of executioners covering their heads with hoods/clothe when cutting the heads off of traders or criminals.

I can definably see the executioner influence. And in terms of character design and actual anatomical movements, I think you can get away with it these days. I mean if you look at a lot of games these days, you'd see a lot grizzled space marines wearing armor that just seems pointless and in cumbersome and completely opposite of what the marines of today are trying to achieve, which is that slick very tight body armor that they are working on. So honestly, a deviation from reality or how one really moves isn't much of a factor anymore as long as it looks cool. Though personally I like the fact that you put that into consideration!

Yea,
It all depends on the media for which the design is created. If it's for games you can pretty much go ALL OUT. If it's for film, you can still go crazy but need to keep things a little more grounded to reality (knowing it will either be an actor with prosthetics/animatronics on him, or cg in which case it all depends on the film budget and cg crew). I know Guillermo del Toro could make something like this guy work on film, after seeing what he did with, Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy and Hellboy 2. Even though "I still think" he'd have issues moving around...it's all make believe so anything goes.

it also might have to do with the shot and the angle, like if the angle hides his legs then it's no problem, or if the shot is of the guy from a distance then you'd not notice it. And honestly I think it's only people with any kind of animation experience or critical knowledge of concept art, and how it all is put together that really will poke fun at it. It would have to be really far-fetched movement to fool the average audience member.
