Description
One of my favorite childhood monster movies. I decided to just produce a quick original rendition of the head design of the graboids.

Have you ever seen a bobbit worm? It is like an aquatic mini-graboid. It buries itself at the bottom of the ocean and waits for the vibration of passing prey.

As a Tremors fan myself, I applaud you for trying to show the younger generations REAL monsters- nowadays its zombie this and zombie that (don't get me wrong, I enjoy zombie media when it's done right- Plants vs Zombies, The Last of Us, etc.). But what happened to the good ol' man vs creature idea I ask you?

ah _TREMORS_. home to my favorite movie quote ever: "Why do you keep asking me?"
excellent adaptation of the Graboid...perhaps physical variation within the species?
(hm, or Earl was right, and they're not local boys...this is one of the otherworld-graboids come to reestablish contact - not to other with conquering...that doesn't make sense with Graboids)
superb work!

Tremors is my all time favorite monster movie. Great FX, a sense of humor, and memorable characters.

Gotta love the graboid. Those bipedial mutations are interesting too, as are the ridiculous "ass-blasters"
nice work, my friend

I was never fond of the 2nd or 3rd..4th.. films - I think I only saw the 1st and 2nd and I don't think I ever really watched the one where they fly (ass blasters). The concept of the biped/heat seekers wasn't a bad design but it for me it ruined the whole point of the original film lol especially since a large part of what made the graboids so terrifying and interesting were the tentacled mouths.

I only saw the 1st and 2nd too, I did watch the tv series though. it was funny at times and it wasn't too bad if you thought of it as an alternate to the film rather than a continuation.
Yeah, that mouth is just the stuff of nightmares

This monster definitely needs revisiting. It's too good to ignore.
Nice draws.

Tremors is one of those films that should never really be redone or re-designed. I wanted to try and stay true to the original with some minor changes to the head.

I would never think of touching their design. I love their sandworm look.
I meant I'd like them to return in another movie, even if it's a remake.

Yea,
Actually I wonder if a re-make or rather a modern day sequel would work really well if they actually had Kevin Bacon come back as Val and Fred Ward as Earl; albeit their age difference between the first film and now. If they tried to really keep the practical effects similar to the look of the original film, with minor enhancements where necessary and used in scenes they couldn't originally produce without green screening back then IE; the gun cellar scene.
I still love the fact that it was a horror movie largely shot during daylight and it had just enough jokes between Earl and Val, while sticking with the serious tone and threat of the underground monsters and horrifyingly gruesome scenes of those that were found slaughtered, buried alive or died of dehydration.
I think a reboot for this franchise is in order; so long as they don't try to fix the original look of the graboids and don't use or overuse CG in ways that would kill the look of the original film.

Such a badass movie! This is an awesome design; it keeps the look of the original Graboid (which is near perfect) but gives just enough new elements to add ferociousness and extra awesomeness.

Thanks, yea.. the original is still such a perfect concept, I just tried a slight re-imagining; perhaps some changes to the carapace of the head to act like a plow as it drives through the soil - slicing through with that bottom jaw and pushing it to he side and rolling over the back of the head.

Indeed it is! Yeah, I can see that working. And he's got some nasty mouth spikes that could probably prevent someone from escaping his mouth.

Yea, that would be the final clamp once the tongues dragged the person close enough and then the three pronged mouth closed shut. I wouldn't dream of changing the blind-snake-like tongues... they were perfectly creepy and served their purpose so well.

Yeah not too many day time monster movies out there. I liked the Graboids because they seemed like something that could exist in reality. Not the stereotypical humanoid monsters found in most movies. If they ever do some sort of Tremors re-make you should be the go to guy for the concepts!

They'll hire the same companies/same individuals they always do.. probably make it look very torn up, asymmetrical and or too slick looking. I just find it funny how certain designers tend to stick with the same design approach no matter what genre or type of film it is... often producing bland ideas that could fit in the same 3 or 4 separate films.

Ugh....don't remind me. I couldn't agree more. What bothers me are designs that don't look functional in reality. Asymmetrical typically one of them. The creatures you create are some of the coolest I have ever seen. They always appear to be viable biological beings. Things that could really exist on some alien planet- or even earth. Many of those generic designs we see in mainstream movies and media always look to "man-made" and not a living breathing organism. For me it takes away from the immersion.
