It is is my first oil painting in more then 10 years. so be kind."Just think about that strange, incredible, unbelievable faith of a young girl. At fourteen years old she became the Mother of God and the Mother of men. She knew full well that people would not understand that she had conceived by the Holy Spirit. For a long time after her marriage to Joseph she must have been the talk of the town. In those days the women used to wash their linens in ponds. When she brought her linen I'm sure people began to whisper about her. I can just see those gossipy women. But Our Lady never said anything. She was the woman wrapped in silence. "

The colours of this are so beautiful, and there is such feeling in the painting, I cannot beleive I have never visited your site before after the support you have given me, and I apologise, I dont know what I was thinking

The colors are marvelous! You portrayed her emotions in her expression perfectly! While sitting there at the river, hearing the murmurs of the other women, that is how she would look. Sadness in her silence, but knowing there was a treasure within. No one to share it with.... no one to understand....... no one, but one.

Very soulful, sad but in a quiet, uplifting way (!?!) Not sure how to express that feeling, but I guess because it speaks to a common human thread of feeling, when sadness can be noble. Of course, the Madonna, being blessed by God, was the picture of this, which you captured beautifully. Don't be so hard on yourself.

this reminds me a lot of an inuit legend about a woman who lived under the ice with the almost liquid movement of the hair around the face
...the yellows, greens really draw you in and keep a warmth to the face, nice work
