Description
(This was originally a scene in a story I was writing for Wattpad a long time ago... Unfortunately, it didn't do very well. So, I rewrote it and made it better, I think, and decided to put it up on here. I hope you like it!)You grunted as Mikasa pulled your hair, raking the comb through aggressively. Your arms were crossed in a pout across your chest, your back stiff with every painful tug. "Relax," Mikasa deadpanned.
You gritted your teeth as she yanked your head back, "How? You're tearing my hair out."
"It looks great," Sasha said with a mouthful of popcorn. She was sitting on the bed across from you, her hair done up in a curly pony-tail and dressed in a cute navy blue dress.
"I don't understand why you're making me go," You grumbled, "Or why Hanji is even throwing this party anyway. I just wanna stay home, enjoy my sweatpants, and watch a movie like we do every Friday night."
"Exactly... Every Friday night," Mikasa pressed.
"It's time we did something different," Sasha added, grinning ear to ear, "It will be fun, ____. Plus, there's going to be lots of food!"
Of course Sasha would say something like that, you thought, but there was another reason your roommates wanted you to go. You were becoming quite the hermit since your last boyfriend broke up with you. You were crushed for months, having no desire to go out and do anything. Mikasa and Sasha had been there for you, and were now fully aware that you had moved on; thus, their plan setting into motion to hook you up with someone new.
It must have been part of Hanji's idea too, throwing a party being a perfect excuse to get you out and meet new people. You were nervous to say the least, having little to no social skill outside of your circling friends. Friday Girl's Night was important to you, it broke you away from college homework and the coffee shop workplace; you weren't the type to get wasted and hang on other guys. The girls were determined to change that. Had you refused the invitation, the girls had threatened to take your books away.
"I hear Hanji has someone in mind for you," Sasha sang, shoving another mouthful of popcorn in her salivating cavern. "She says he's real hottie for being as short as he is. She says he's totally your type: strong, silent..."
You hummed, your interest peaking slightly. You pursed your lips in attempt to hide it, and Mikasa took the opportunity to swiftly wipe lip gloss on them. "Done," she murmured.
The chair spun around and you nearly gasped at the sight of yourself in the vanity. Despite all the teasing, your hair didn't look as big as it felt. The crown was bumped up, but smooth and messily pinned curls created a full looking bun, and few strands falling around your face. Your makeup was light, but made your features pop elegantly. Intrigued, you leaned closer to the mirror, your face blushed at the tasteful cleavage your black dress created; a single, thick strap laced over your left shoulder, the skirt full and flirty as you swished your hips side to side.
"Oh, wow," Sasha drawled. "____, you look incredible... Good job, Mikasa!"
The raven-haired woman smirked lightly, crossing her arms across the bust of her own silken, mauve dress. "Mystery man isn't going to know what hit him."
The ride over to the venue was mostly silent besides Sasha groaning about how hungry she was. You kept accidently catching your reflection in the side mirror, taken aback each and every time. You couldn't recall the last time you'd gotten this dolled up, and it almost made you reconsider going to the party. Whoever this guy was, you worried of looking desperate, like you were trying too hard. You wanted someone to like you for who you were, not for who you could become with the right amount of effort.
Your stomach rolled relentlessly, the thumping music from inside rattling your heart. What did this guy look like? Was he really as handsome as Hanji had depicted. It didn't matter. Even if the girls were wrong, you wouldn't allow yourself to get bent out of shape. Whether you found someone you liked or not, you were totally fine with going home alone too.
Inside the venue was beautiful. It amazed you that Hanji had even come up with the money to rent such a place. The down payment must have been astronomical! The foyer itself was the size of your apartment, two velvet, red staircases on either side that probably led to several more large rooms. The room across the foyer was dimmed, lights flashing like some sort of sophisticated club, filled with an open bar and a dance floor.
Out of all the faces, you recognized very few. You noticed Mikasa shift beside you, her eyes lighting up ever so slightly. You followed her gaze to Eren Jaeger, her boyfriend of two months, and Sasha was crushing hard on Connie in the opposite end of the room (this may have also been due to the fact he was standing by the assortment of foods). Your eyes strayed to Hanji, who shrieked with an over-abundance of joy.
Hanji was dressed to the nines in a risque red dress, and you almost wouldn't have recognized her had it not been for the glasses. Her heels clopped against the hardwood floors and you barely had time to brace yourself before the woman crashed into you. Her arms squeezed you and you wheezed painfully. You'd much rather have Mikasa teasing your hair than endure another second of this hug.
"Oh my GOD, ______, you look so precious!" Hanji exclaimed, releasing you.
The hug may have ended, but it was replaced by her fingers pinching your cheeks. Mikasa swatted her hand away protectively, "Stop, you'll ruin her make-up."
Hanji pointed at your face, looking at Mikasa with wide eyes, "You did this? Oh, wow! ____, you should wear make-up more often."
"What's that suppose to mean?" You growled.
She giggled, and ignored your question, "So, are you ready to meet your date?"
You blushed, "Th-this isn't a date... I'm only here because you insisted--"
"
Let loose, _____! Sasha is."
Your brows furrowed and looked to the hungry girl that was no longer standing by your side. You should have known better than to think she'd stick around long enough to support you, and you spotted her piling a paper plate high. Connie looked utterly disturbed.
Hanji grabbed you by your right arm and pointed across the room, "See those guys over there?"
Your eyes followed her finger to the three men standing in the corner, all dressed in their own, unique style of suit attire. One was tall with a full head of neatly combed blond hair and the bushiest brows you'd ever seen; the other was slender, his hair prematurely grey, his facial features long and narrow much like a horse, and the third was short, most likely your height or an inch taller. He looked bored and thoroughly annoyed to be there, and when his eyes caught yours, you froze.
"You've been spotted," Hanji chirped, tugging you by the arm.
"Th-that's the guy you're setting me up with?" You choked. "H-he looks... so mean..."
"Nah, Shorty's the best! Come on."
You dug your heels into the floor in attempt to resist, but Mikasa grabbed you forcefully by your left arm and helped Hanji drag you toward the group of men. You happened to catch Sasha waving as you flew by her table, shouting an almost incoherent "Good Luck."
Your heart jumped into your throat as six pairs of eyes fell on you, Hanji and Mikasa reluctantly releasing your arms in fear that you might try to run. No, you were already too embarrassed from them dragging you into a social situation, and running would only make it worse. You might have fallen.
"Well, who do we have here?" The horse-faced man raised his eyebrow seductively.
"Jean, these are my two friends Mikasa and ______," Hanji replied with a grin.
Jean stuck his hand out to you first and you coyly took it. "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too," your eyes widened a fraction as he brought your hand to his lips and gave it a chaste kiss.
The shorty beside Jean grunted in unison with a very protective Mikasa. Jean noticed almost immediately, and tried to give Mikasa the same affection, but she tore her hand away before his lips could meet her hand.
"I'm Erwin Smith," the tall, blond man interjected and took your hand. You were thankful he didn't try to kiss it. "Hanji was telling me a lot about you before you arrived. Might I say the dress you're wearing is very complimentary."
You felt yourself blush, absentmindedly running your hands down the fabric. "Thank you, sir. I can't take all the credit," you tilted your head toward Mikasa and smiled, "She picked it out. I'm afraid I don't have a knack for fashion sense."
"____, is definitely a sweat pants and t-shirt type of girl," Hanji howled.
Erwin chuckled, "There's nothing wrong with that. Comfort is key."
Why couldn't Erwin be the man Hanji was talking about. Shorty hadn't even said a word or made an attempt to introduce himself. Even though Jean was too forward for you liking, even he seemed like a better match than the grumpy man to your right.
"_____," Hanji nudged, gesturing toward the stoic man who had yet to say a word, "This is my good friend Levi Ackerman."
His stormy, half-lidded eyes thinned at Hanji before they met your own. For a moment, you thought his deadpan expression reminded you a lot of Mikasa's, though his look was a lot more scary.
You made an effort anyway, and stuck out your hand. "It's nice to meet you, Levi."
He glanced at your hand and blinked owlishly. He sighed and ran his fingers through his ebony undercut, "I'm getting another drink."
Your retracted your hand awkwardly, and Hanji gave him a push, "No, you don't, shorty!"
"Don't touch me, shitty four-eyes," Levi growled.
"Hey," You jolted, glowering at the man, "Don't talk to her like that!"
Hanji only laughed, and patted your shoulder, "That's just good ol' Levi, _____."
She must have been half-way drunk out of her mind not to be scared by the look he was giving her as she took his glass from his hands.
"You guys stay here and get to know each other! I'll go grab us all some drinks."
"I'll go with you," Jean muttered. "I need another drink myself."
Hanji sauntered off with Jean in toe, leaving you and Mikasa with the two men. Your eyes remained narrowed at Levi, and he stared back at you a moment with a callous sneer. "What are you looking at, brat?"
"Excuse you?" You rasped, your chest tightening.
"You heard me."
"Levi! Levi," Erwin joked half-heartily, waving his hand airily, "Let's try to relax and have a good time. This is a party after all. _____, what do you do for a living, hm?"
"Oh, um," You paused to clear your throat and forced yourself to tear your eyes away from Levi. Seeing the calming expression on Erwin's face lightened the weight on your shoulders, "I'm a college student mostly... I work part time at a coffee shop down town."
"I see. What are you studying?"
"Nursing, actually," You blushed and bit your lip. "I like to help people... I'd like to find work in pediatrics. I love," were you really about to say this out loud? "I love children."
"Kind as you are beautiful," Erwin smiled. "That's wonderful."
Levi scoffed, "Please, Erwin, don't be daft."
"What's your problem?" Mikasa chided, her shoulder stiff.
"My problem is this headache, and this brat's desperate attempt at affection is making it worse. It's fucking pathetic."
Mikasa scowled and took a step forward, but you held your arm out to stop her. Your throat was swollen shut and you could feel the sting of eyes in your tears, but you weren't going to let your friend step in to fix it.
"We've only just met, so I don't know what I've done to cause you to be such a dick," You hissed under your breath. Levi just looked at you with a bored, feline gaze and it made you even angrier. "You can't snap at me for staring when all you've done is scrutinize me since I got here. I've tried to be friendly, while you've just been a rude and disruptive jerk."
"No one is asking you to stick around, idiot."
You clenched you jaw at his cool tone.
"I have drinks!" Hanji sang.
You huffed and swiped your drink out of Hanji's hand, and stormed off, a frustrated tear rolling down your cheek.
~*~
You found yourself outside on the balcony, sucking down another drink. Mikasa had spent the first hour with you, trying to console you, but you knew she wanted to see Eren. After much convincing, you finally got her to leave you and you begged her not to make a big deal with Levi.
Hanji was an idiot for ever thinking that you would be interested in a guy like that. Sure, he was handsome and he looked good in a suit, but he had to be the biggest asshole you'd ever met in your life. If he would have had the looks and Erwin's personality, maybe you could have seen it, but what was Hanji thinking?
Another hour passed, and you were starting to feel the haze of the liquor. You stared at the numerous amount of empty glasses on the table, and yet you were still tempted to have another. You regretted taking the same vehicle as Mikasa and Sasha, hoping that they would soon be fulfilled in their fun and want to leave soon. However, you didn't want them to feel badly for you. You were, for the most part, content with being alone outside and enjoying Spring's evening breeze.
You heard the glass door slide open and you tilted your head drunkenly toward your visitor. You blinked your heavy lids and weakly curled you lip at the short, stoic man, his hands in his pockets. "God dammit," you slurred.
"Pipe down, brat," Levi grunted.
You rolled your eyes, "Shut up, shorty."
Levi's eyes narrowed, but continued out onto the balcony. He placed a cigarette between his lips and pulled out an extra, offering it to you. Your eyes followed lazily up his arm to meet his owlish stare.
"I don't smoke."
He shrugged, "Suit yourself."
You sneered at him, watching as he took the chair in front of you, his pale features glowing as he lit up his nicotine stick. You groggily tucked your knees into your chest and curled your arms around them, averting your eyes from his grumpy gaze. You should just leave, you thought, but you weren't sure you'd make it to the door without stumbling.
"Your friends demanded I apologize," Levi said, breaking the silence.
"You don't seem like the type of guy to take that advice," you scoffed.
"I'm not."
Your lips quirked and it surprised you. You nearly had to suck in your cheeks to keep it from spreading as you looked at him, forcing a glare, "You're a mean little thing. I bet you were picked on in school for being so short and that's why you pick on others."
"You're shorter than me, kitten."
Your cheeks flared with warmth, and you spluttered, "D-don't... call me that! You were a total ass down there and now you're gonna start with creepy, perverted pet names? What the hell is wrong with you?"
Levi took another long drag of his cigarette and his jaw flexed as his blew the smoke out of his nostrils. He loosened his tie and reclined back in the chair, tapping the ash away with his index finger. It was sort of... sexy?
Finally, he spoke, "You look like a fucking mess."
"That's a shitty apology," you muttered.
Levi shrugged and flicked the cigarette over the side of the balcony.
You'd had about of enough of his attitude and attempted to stand. Besides being a little wobbly at first, you gained your balance and staggered toward the door. "This has been fun," you jeered, looking over your shoulder briefly. "If you ever happen to come by the coffee shop, I'll probably poison yours."
You heard his chair creak, "Your ride left," he mentioned nonchalantly.
Your hand froze on the door, your wide-eyed expression staring back at you. Levi's casual figure appeared behind you, "The brunette left with skin-head and the other one left with Jaeger. They were both drunk out of their minds."
"So? I'll just get Hanji to--"
"She left with Erwin."
You cursed under your breath, "Fine, I'll just walk home."
Thunder rolled overhead and a bright flash of lightning startled you. A fat droplet of rain crashed against your bare shoulder and trickled down your arm. A whimpering mew escaped your lips and you closed your eyes. When you opened them again, Levi's reflection was closer to you, a tinge of amusement in his eyes.
He reached around you and slid the door open. "I'll drive you."
"You don't have to, I'll just wait it out--"
"Shut up. Consider it an apology."
Being tired and tipsy, you couldn't refuse and the rain had only gotten worse by the time you clambered into his car. It was loud, flooding waters. The windshield wipers barely moved fast enough to see and it made you anxious.
The ride was awkwardly silent, and you sat closed off in the passenger seat. You'd never been more happy to see your apartment complex, and when Levi pulled into the parking garage, you felt yourself relaxing.
Levi parked the car and cut the ignition. You bit the inside of your cheek, sneaking glances of him in the corner of your eye. Two grateful words hitched themselves at the base of your throat, and you shifted uncomfortably in your seat. You managed to finally mutter a thank you and reached for the door. However, the seat belt you forgot to unlatch kept you tied down.
Levi sighed and clicked the button, watching as you stumbled out of the car. "You're still drunk."
"I-I am not," You stammered.
His gaze thinned at you and he unbuckled himself. You took a step back as Levi got out of the car and swiftly approached you. Your cheeks swelled with crimson coloring as he forcefully grabbed you by the hips and flung you over his shoulder.
"H-hey!" You cried, beating on his back. "Put me down!"
He flicked the back of your bare thigh, "Stop acting like a fucking brat! I'm not going to watch you struggle up these stairs like an idiot."
About two floors up you ceased punching him and fell limp over his shoulder. You breathed in the smell of him, holding back a delightful moan. A smile crept across your lips, and your rested your cheek against his back.
Before you fully realized it, Levi had effortlessly carried you to the fourth floor and sat you down in front of your door. He shoved his hands in his pockets, inclining his head toward the knob, "Can you manage?"
You grinned cheesily at him. Maybe you were more drunk than you thought.
You reached under the mat for the spare key and carefully aimed for the lock. You missed completely and the key dropped to the ground. Levi growled and hunched down to pick it up, unlocking it himself. You giggled at the man's frustration, pleased with your accidental revenge.
"You're being nice to me, you're being nice to me," you taunted harmoniously.
"Tch," Levi palmed his forehead and grumbled, "Just get inside, brat."
You padded into the empty apartment, swaying side to side. You stumbled over something in the floor, causing another aggrivated grumble from Levi. You suppressed another chuckle as he grabbed you by the arm firmly.
"Ouch," You whined.
"Get over it," he barked, dragging you into the kitchen. He leaned you against the counter like a fragile posession, "Where's the water glasses and medicine cabinet."
"Why do you wanna know?"
His brows furrowed at you, "To spare you the headache your giving me, you little shit."
You smiled, "You are being nice."
Levi clicked his tongue and began rummaging through your cabinets on his own. You watched him through hooded eyes, his toned arms reaching into cabinets. Though he sounded exasperated, there was patience in his eyes as he broke out the ice cubes and filled a glass with water. Your body tingled as he brushed his ebony locks from his eyes, your stare slowly taking in the entirety of his form as he walked back over to you.
He held out his palm, revealing two white capsules, "Take these," he demanded.
Your orbs flickered from his hand to his stern eyes, the breath from his nostrils caressing your cheekbones. Your heart began racing, your fingers stroking his palm as you took the pills, sheepishly placing them in your mouth. Levi handed you the glass of water, watching you closely as you drank.
"Thank... you," you hiccuped.
He nodded firmly, "Anything else, or can I go now?"
You grimaced, feeling a sharp pain in your heart. You bobbed your head and averted your eyes. Levi made a movement to turn away from you, but you grabbed his wrist. Levi faced you, your messy curls shadowing your eyes.
"...Apology accepted," You whispered.
An odd noise came from Levi's throat and his eyes were slightly more round than before.
Maybe it was your buzzed state, but you took a step closer to him in confidence and words, though timid and coy, came spilling out of your mouth. "You're kinda cute for a scary man."
Levi's thin, feline eyes returned, "Really... Lightweights shouldn't drink."
Your heart thundered in your ears as you stood on your tip toes and pressed a chaste kiss on his lower lip. Levi stiffened even as you pulled away, lowering your head in embarrassment. "Thank you... again."
Levi didn't say anything for what seemed like several minutes, but, to your surprise, he grabbed your face in his hands and crushed his lips into yours. You sucked in a breath as his arms wrapped around your torso, and he took the opportunity to slide his tongue into your mouth. You moaned into his mouth, the feeling of the wet muscle entangling yours sending pleasurable chills down your spine.
The kiss was heated, passionate, and Levi picked you up by your thighs, bringing you around his waist. He nibbled along your jawline, blindly carrying you into the living room. Your bodies collapsed on the sofa, his lips rejoined yours in a desperate battle for dominance, his groin pressed firmly against yours.
Suddenly, Levi pulled away and you panted, staring up at him. "What the hell is wrong with you?" He grunted.
"Nothing," You rasped, chest heaving. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"I like you," he deadpanned.
Your breath hitched as he placed a kiss on the base of your neck, "Y-you have an odd way of showing it."
"I'm sorry," he said against your flesh.
"Ah!"
Levi smirked as he nibbled on your collar bone, kissing downward, "I hope your not still drunk... I don't want to take advantage of you less you feel the same way."
"I do," you breath, tilting your head back as his tongue flicked his way to your earlobe, "B-but..."
Levi pulled away, blinking slowly, "But what?"
"I-I don't sleep around with people I just met..."
"First date, maybe?"
"Try... several dates."
He hummed, kissing the corner of your mouth slowly, "Go out with me."
You smiled, "How do I know this isn't just an act to see if you could go all the way?"
"You kissed me, kitten," he reminded sharply. "Besides, I have my rules too. I don't sleep with just anyone either."
"Are you normally this sweet?"
"No, but I'll make an exception if you say yes."
You languidly kissed his lips, "Then, yes... I'll go out with you..."
Headcannon that Levi calls women he's into "Kitten" to taunt them ^_^

AHHHHHHHH!! HNNGGGH! Can't breathe.
I mean...that was nice...and stuff.
Their banter was phenomenal btw.
And this:: "and Sasha was crushing hard on Connie in the opposite end of the room (this may have also been due to the fact he was standing by the assortment of foods). "
I died.
