excellent! i had an actual vision this reminds me of. it was seeing stars of stars inside milky ways of milky ways in the night sky.
i was tripping at the time (believe it or not i rarely do that)

Wow! This is incredible capture.. it makes it even more magical, that you can't actually see the stars this clear in the moment. It takes a LE-technique to bring 'em out..
I'm interested to know how did you focus the lens in the darkness? Where did you point it?

I always put my lens to manual and focus it to infinity. It's the easiest way to get the details and make it sharp. I used here even longer exposure than on the other. About 66 secs, since this lens is so wide you cant see so much movement on the stars.

Interesting.. May I ask how you focus the lens to infinity? I know this is the technique I should use, but I'm not sure how to do it.
What lens do you use?

That Sigma 10-20mm has a manual focus ring with metering, so you can just put it to infinity.

Hmm.. ok. Do you think I could accomplish the same with EOS 450D? It has manual focus ring, but I'm not sure about the metering.

The metering is in the lens so it is possible in any camera if it has a manual switch. So if the lens has numbers when you turn the manual focus ring, it's easy to see where the infinity is. But if it doesn't maybe the easiest way to focus infinity is to focus it somewhere where you have light and as far as it does and then switch the lens/camera to manual and not touch the ring so you get the same result as with the one with metering. lol hope this made any sense. Yes. Thanks for the tip! I already used it shoot some stars. Have to improve the technique, though.
