The hair I am having trouble with is hair I have ported from XPS, and in between the hair lines there is white, and the edges are also white too. How do I fix it?

A wonderful tutorial, but my hair is twitching terribly at the ends, and hardly moves anywhere else. How to I 1. stop the twitching and 2. make it move a little more naturally?
I've tried so many tutorials, and nothing seems to work. I've tried removing all bones and physics and placing my own, but that made it even worse. I'm at the end of my patience here and on the verge of tears because everyone I've talked to treats it like an easy problem to fix.

Thank you <3

Would it be possible for you to send me the model with the hair problem? or a video of the problem? or pictures?
there are several things that could cause that problem, if I know precisely what the problem is
I can make a tutorial for you so you can know how to fix the problem

before making it more more naturally we need to fix the twitching :3

don't cry!     everyone is different! something that might be easy for me maybe difficult for you, it's something that
sadly many people still don't get ;-;

I will help you as much as I can and I will make sure to teach you how to fix it on your own that way you know how to fix it if it
happens on future models.

I don't know how well this shows the problem, but hopefully it does.

I've tried removing all the bones, joints, and physics, and following this tutorial, and it turned the ponytail from stiff jello to flowing seaweed. I tried following this tutorial, and while the hair did bend like shown in the video, it didn't actually change anything about the hair twitching or (not) moving. Sure he's technically functional, but it just doesn't look nice if his hair doesn't... ya know. Swish. Even if only a little.

It shows the problem perfectly <3

Could you upload to sta.sh a pic of the hair bones? and vertices?

Although the first tutorial is one way of doing them, I wouldn't recommend it, it turned that way due to the rigging and the values for
the physics and joints are the basic ones pmx gives you :/

the second video however is really good, in that case it's the physics and joint values, this: 1-1  and this 1-2
those numbers determine how smooth the movement of the physics is going to be, so you have to make sure to have a
specific numbers to make it smooth I am going to take screenshots of the numbers I use so that you can try them, I will send them in
a few minutes~

If the hair is high poly I suggest 2-3 bones for the bangs and 4-5 for the pigtail this will create more movement as well,
however if it's low poly I suggest 2 for the bangs and 3 for the ponytail, just in case this is high poly/low poly: 1-3

Do you have the skirt plugin? the plugin makes not extremely smooth physics but pretty good ones,
you could try to use that too. Here is an example of the skirt plugin physics:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymnnew… or  www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEBm4h…

I agree smooth physics look so good <3

sta.sh/21myy1aacuzf?edit=1 Like so?

I don't have the skirt plugin, but I have seen it mentioned only a couple times. It's downloading as I type.
Edit: Apparently it's already installed with my copy of PMXE? I opened the folder and saw it sitting right there.

Edit edit: This plugin is really confusing. I'm looking at it and can't even tell which way is up @^@;

Hi hi!
I forgot to mention there are also these settings for the joints/physics and it has examples so you can choose how smooth you want it :3
Lets test out some Joint settings: For Hair

yes, perfect <3

he has very good amount of bones and physics, the placement is good too <3
1 thing though make the blue head bone a bit smaller~

I can make a tutorial for hair specifically with the plugin if you'd like
there are already some tutorials already made tho:
Skirt Plugin Tutorial
[PMD Editor] Skirt plugin tutorial
[MMD Tut] Skirt Plugin Details
Rigging Hair With The Skirt Plugin
my personal fave: [Tutorial] Making smooth physics for MMD! [RT17]

before you add physics with the plugin, try this:
1. reduce the size of the head physics by a little bit (the big one)
2. change the physics Mass, Move and rotation to this: 2-1
3. change the joint numbers to this: 2-2

If that doesn't work try this as well:
1. same as before
2. change the physics number to this instead: 3-1
3. same with joints : 3-2

Still having problems and can't understand this tut.
Hair is still not in the right place.

the problem might not be the same, is the hair just floating in mid air and not moving with the model, or is the hair doing the same thing
that's on the picture?

Solaris-Spark In reply to MikuEvalon [2018-08-06 04:08:57 +0000 UTC]

Hair is floating mid-air.

Did you check that the hair bones where connected to the head bone?

Yes.

MikuEvalon In reply to Solaris-Spark [2018-08-07 23:14:44 +0000 UTC]

Is the hair weighted using different numbers? like 100 75 etc?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Solaris-Spark In reply to MikuEvalon [2018-08-08 01:04:10 +0000 UTC]

Cannot answer that.
I don't use numbers for weighting.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MikuEvalon In reply to Solaris-Spark [2018-08-08 01:12:54 +0000 UTC]

Its the numbers below the bar where you choose how much you weight something, it's what makes
the dots blue, red, purple etc. if you don't use it then you always have the weighting on 100

sometimes if things are rigged at 50% or less then they won't work properly for some odd reason(has happened to me before)
The solution was to re-rigg everything.

if you want you can send me the model and I can check what's causing the problem

Solaris-Spark In reply to MikuEvalon [2018-08-08 01:53:27 +0000 UTC]

How can I send the model?

And yes, I actually re-rigged the whole thing. 5 times already.

MikuEvalon In reply to Solaris-Spark [2018-08-08 02:29:40 +0000 UTC]

You right click on the folder where your model is then you go to send to and then select zip file, this will convert it to a .zip file then
you go to your sta.sh and upload it there, then you send me the link on a note or here on the comments.

then something must be connected wrong it should work.

So this is happening to me with a tail I added the physics myself and they are all connected and perfectly fine but for some reason it's being really glitchy
prntscr.com/guwu9y
and its crashing mmd too I didnt touch anything on the model and it worked fine before I tried adding physics

Hello, I apologize for the extremely late reply, I haven't being able to be active and my comments have stocked up .

Are you still having the problem?

Well if you want I can make a tutorial on how to identify if a bone is connected or not even if its on Japanese

Thanks, That'd be great. I have pics of the problem in mmd and my character in pmd in my gallery if you need to look at it. I'd think it'd help. (maybe)
