Description
Do your IRQ's erk you? See moss in your CMOS? It's time to upgrade!Inspired by my recent tribulations with upgrading my computer... (for the record.. I WON)
I know I normally dress textures up and they are not normally my focus, but this time, I think it can stand on it's own.
UF with a dash of Kai for flavor. Enjoy!

Great job! It actually does look like a motherboard of sorts.

Thanks Mary. I wanted to do a bit more with it. I was thinking of doing one of those images made up of images things.. but using the individual squares here as the pixels. The overhead is pretty intense though, so I might just skip it.

That would be an absolutely wicked task. I almost think that you'd have to make dozens of fractals and do the post work in Photoshop or something similar. Doing it as one fractal would probably strain a Cray!
Assuming that you used one layer and one mask per square in your current fractal, you'd need 560 layers, more or less, just to get each tiny square to be different. (I counted the squares just now.) And, if you did your usual gradient work, that could easily double the 560 layers into 1120. I'd hesitate.......
Please!!!! Don't take this as a challenge! I'd hate to think that I was responsible for burning out your motherboard!

Or you could create the image the same way, shift it all off to the right, mask out a rectangular work area, and use a clone mapping to selectively move the squares you want into place... (all with the same amount of layers. )
The tricky part is actually rendering the image, pulling out individual squares and sizing them down to 1x1 pixel. This way you can see the average value of all the pixels in the square and see what they eye sees as it averages them from a distance. I believe there is actually mosaic software that does it all automatically now, but it would have so much more oomph to do it manually.

Aaaasaaaaugh!!!!!!!! (Runs screaming for the nearest door....!)
:lol
Seriously, though, as much as you seem to enjoy complexity and the challenge that it presents, do you think that the time investment would be worth it? Just a thought!
