Here is the latest design for my Togruta Jedi character for Star Wars RPG, Shi'an. I decided to design her around a more slimplistic design because the other designs I was working with were too complex and I could not get certain ideas to reconcile. I decided to go back to the Clone Wars cartoon design for Togruta Jedi Master Shaak Ti and flavor it my way. I hate the look the books have where the montrals and lekku become a single long tube on the sides of the head and the design from the comics makes it look like a friar's haircut. I decided that I liked the montrals better further apart where they increase her size by spreading out in a more aggressive and powerful fashion. The four (instead of the more common 3) lekku and the wide sleeves also are designed to give an otherwise somewhat small character a more impressive silhouette. I also agonized over what colors to use for her. Even though a red lightsaber would compliment her complexion I don't want her to look like a sith so I had to go for the opposite color (green). I also thought about burgundy or brown robes but Black and white is more striking and makes her skin color and it's contrast with her blade more central (symbolizing her dual natures: ruthless cunning hunter and serene disciplined jedi).

I wanted her to look somewhat cute and innocent while still having an aggressive and somewhat predatory look (a terrible balancing act as you might imagine). Now she reminds me a lot of Hobbes, which is cool since I'm a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan. I may decide to cell shade it over the weekend if I'm still happy with it by then.
