now.. this is a quite personal piece for me.. It started with a topic from Sketchoholic..'Ghosts' (Daniela Strijleva interview's contest).I was going to create something comedic before but all of sudden memories of my granma came back to me. She passed away quite a while ago but I still remember how devastated i was that time. I tried to pour all my emotion into this one.. which resulted in a really depressing weekend. It was really exhausting both mentally and physically when I did this drawing - the sad music that I listened was making it worse too.
I'm glad to be able to finish it - it's quite a relieve in the end. I miss both my granpa and granma.. I wish that they're both in peace and happy somewhere .. sniff..

I'm crying just looking at this picture. I remember being completely devastasted, crushed and broken when my grandmother passed, and this piece stirs up all those emotions again for me. Even though it has now been 18 years!

I had to comment! I can feel your emotions poured into this artwork. :'-( I know what you went through, and I am sure half the county does also. I lost my mom recently in 2011 but she died at home and not at the hospital. Her spirit is always with me and my dad. I believe in ghosts so I had to favorite this piece. I and other people I know have had paranormal experiances and have actually seen people pass on into the afterlife. Your grandpa and grandma I am very sure are together watching over you and your family, and I am sure he and the family greeted your grandmother at the time of her passing. Be strong!

This is sad, yes, but I find it to be beautiful as well. It's like a new beginning.
I always envisioned people dying as a sort of new beginning. All their friends and loved ones come to welcome them to the other side. It's sad for those of us left behind but we aren't let behind for long.
I think you captured the essence of that kind of idea in a simple yet very telling manner, without making it too religious, which I think it easy to do with this topic.
It's sad but it has a lot of hope in it.

This is a touching piece. It brings tears to the eyes and brings about the fact that death can be a sad, yet happy time. Emotions are always so mixed and jumbled up, and this picture just adds to the jumble.
