EDIT: Redid the last part of this tutorial to make a newer, better version.

I looked at the previous version and I was like "OMG What was I thinking?! There's no subtlety in the highlight!" So I fixed it. Sorry if you have to learn this all over again.

Hope you guys find it useful. First deviation for the new year. If you want a tutorial on how to make your own sparkle brushes, just go here: [link] - and then click CTRL + i and Edit > Define brush preset when you're done.

This is just one of the cool effects you can paint in Photoshop's screen mode. You can also do things like simple glows, starbursts and blasts from ship thrusters or guns.
