OMG this series. I have like a backlog of paintings I want to do since the series ended and April Vacation can't come soon enough for me to catch up on all of them. First Kanan, now Hera, and then KRIFFING EZRA IN THE FINALE!!! OOooooooo, so many things to react to.

But first, the quiet moment of Hera mourning. This particular episode was great, but mostly Ezra and espeically Hera - she's always been so compartmentalized and seeing her so completely broken down was devastating. And there was Chopper, quietly offering support.

Lot of reference pics from this scene to get the Lothal paintings right - the crack in the middle of the mountain is not at all subtle for Hera's strength being shattered, more on that in the next painting. Lots of details on the foreground, too, Kanan's mask has all the dents and dings and is really big because he was such a big part of Hera's life. But what hurt's most is Hera's face - hidden as it is you can still see the tear tracks, and though the episode never showed it I kind of like the idea that her family history, the kalikori is finally put down because her grief is so overwhelming. I tried to give an upwards perspective, with mixed results - poor Chopper looks terrible.

So,

What I like: Hera's face and tear tracks, the background, the symbolism and staging.

What I don't like: Chopper (I tried...) one of Hera's lekku, that you can't tell Hera is leaning to one side.
