this is grate..
i think it's the best i've seen from that type of works so far..
the unusual angle.. graceful pose.. and composition in general create quite strong thoughts in my mind.. i like when that happens

I really love the concept! Maybe make the "drawing" B&W though? might create a more being draw effect.. great work otherwise

I'm holding a blue pencil, though....ha ha.
I didn't want it to look too much like a drawing. It kind of was supposed to be like a mirror inside a mirror thing, like I was drawing me. I wanted to add a big pencil on the real image too. I wasn't even going to put a filter on that small image, but I did.
Thanks for commenting, you had a good idea, but I think I'm going to leave it.

A clever concept well executed! Presumably the painting was added in post-processing, so this is technically a photomanip? Anyway, enough of that, its admin's place to get at people about categories...

I like the composition of the shot, framing the woman's shoulders with the flowing dress; I like the way the seat is just visible in the bottom corner. An interesting shot.

I guess I have manipulated it...but only that small part. And it's not drasitc - it could possibly be a real drawing.... it's not like I added wings and changed colors and moved the subject to a new setting or something. I read through the photography category and it said something like "minimal digital manipulation" and I thought it was pretty minimal..

Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you like it!

this is a great concept. i really like the over the shoulder thing as well. one thing i would change is that for the picture she's drawing, make it be a whole body shot. like make her really body cropped, but keep the whole body in the "drawing" so there aren't any straight edges.
i love the filter in this one, though.

MissDawn In reply to xauthorunknown [2006-05-29 04:41:52 +0000 UTC]

That would be awesome, but there's a problem. The image I put on paper was the photo itself copied, pasted, shrunk, and manipulated. I can't really fabricate anything...Or do you mean crop a lot closer on the whole thing, like have just the paper and my head and a little shoulder?

xauthorunknown In reply to MissDawn [2006-05-31 22:57:05 +0000 UTC]

ahh okay. whenever i try to explain things it always comes out jumbled and confusing.
what i means was: when you take the photo, make sure the whole body is in it. that way, when you shrink it down onto the notebook, there won't be any straight edges and you'd be able to see the entire body. then i would suggest cropping the end result photo so that it looks the way this version does, just without the straight edges on the body in the notebook. i really love the angle it's at now, and obviously you don't have to redo this whole thing if you don't want to.

OH. I see what you meant now. But, yeah. Too late and I'm not going to redo it. It'd probably end up not looking as good anyway.

The perspective is great! The only real suggestion I have is about the model's hairband (or whatever it is). She has such gorgeous hair; seeing the band is an interruption and draws my eye a little too much off the picture's focus. Other than that, though, really nice.

Well, that girl is me! (I do self-photography) Thanks for the comment on my hair XD It was a jewel comb. I had it in there because I thought it looked romantic or added a little sparkle. But, the picture is taken. Thanks for the comment and I"m glad you liked it.

Actually Escher is one of my favorite artists. He has this one that is an eye in charcoal and in the pupil you see a skull. Very awesome. I also like the "rind" ones. Thanks for the comments, by the way. I appreciate it.

we,, the concept isn't new, but your angle and way of using it certainly is !! It's a beautiful picture, maybe a little to dark for my taste, this szene would have fit well in a "soft light" environement.

You mean the black background? All I have for plain sheets is black. I just set up a sheet with some reading lamps in my basement. I am poor.

I do the same: black cotton sheets and halogen lamps I think I do have white sheets though .. you can come borrow one next time

Yeah, but your photography is way better than mine. I'd like a new camera (a better one) but I have this crappy '89 corsica and college to pay for. Priorities, i guess. I'm self-taught at photography and I've been doing this for about 6 of 7 months, so maybe that had something to do with it as well.

I really like your photography! I just wish I had models besides myself.

Oooh, really nice! Great concept and really good aplication And that's probably the best angle you could've used to have that effect. And with the drawing of the photo, it makes it all so great.

This is a really good example to show that you "draw/see" yourself as other see you.

Very well done ..
