He's handsome your brother. One likes to touch him THERE where the hair in the neck meets the skin. The picture is very dreamy and sensual!

This is quite an incredible shot. I know nothing about photography, but I'm certainly impressed.
I love the contrast between your brother and the leather couch. The difference in the textures looks excellent together.
I originally thought that he was posing, but now that I know he wasn't it makes it all the more better.
Amazing work, I'll definitely be looking out for more.

my jaw dropped. this picture is perfect for so many reasons. the symmetry of his spine, the light falling on his skin, his body on the leather, the way he's sleeping, even, with his arm curled around his face, fingers open ... it's a very sensual picture, without trying to be. very unassuming.
I think more pictures shot candidly should convey the natural electricity of everyday life. just seeing this makes me wonder just how starved we all are for beautiful things, things that weren't even trying to be beautiful or attract attention. things and people like your brother, who, for perfect example, just took a nap on the couch, and became a work of art.
all that to say, I'm so grateful that there are artists like yourself who captured this moment and shared it with the rest of us.

You made me so happy today! Wow. I don't even know where to begin.
Thanks so much for the lovely comment. You make it seem so worthwhile, doing photography.
I like how you said, "...the natural electricity of everyday life..." I think I will steal that for my writing sometime (if I remember). We all are starved for beautiful things...when all we see is pop culture, homework, a messy room, coffee grounds, bad hair days, broken things, and car exhaust, etc. Hardly ever does real life intersect art...but here it does.
He took a nap and became a work of art...that's how life is, isn't it? To the artist, anyway. I can watch someone or see some small thing and I get a story idea or a poem idea. I think the person/object that inspired it will never know, and that is what is so special - that it's an inner, personal event. I'm happiest in life watching a bird, or waves, or a snail, a child...the smallest things that are oblivious to me. It's a good feeling.
Thanks so much. (I love talking about this!!)

it can be worthwhile. it's art, regardless of what some may think. and I think it takes a great artist, like yourself, to see that, to know how to capture life and not necessarily make it into art, but share it. as art. as an inner personal event. as something that rocked you emotionally.
thank you!

Exactly!!
Thanks so much.
Also, I told my brother whan you said about taking a nap and becoming a piece of art and he replied, "I'm always a piece of art, everywhere I go. I'm so gorgeous." and walks away all prissy. He was kidding, of course, but I could tell he was pleased to get compliments.

what a beautiful capture, even more so now that we know it's not posed ! The blurryness is a real shame, you can see the camera-shake when you look at the writing on his jeans. Next time have a shot of wodka before taking a snap with ISO 100 indoors
Still a great shot though

you're not to young, you're just american. Over here in scotland, you see drunk kids from age 14 on, and they smoke as well. it's really sad. I kinda stopped drinking completely since I came to scotland, it's very discouraging to see what alcohol can do to people. I do like a nice glass of whine, but drinking until I have to puke or don't know what I am doing anymore ain't realy my thing, at least not anymore, I had my bad years too, in college

The idea of drinking is pretty loose, here though, like almost all kids drink on weekends and parties.
However, I pride myself in not. I had a couple once, and I hated that my mind was fuzzed. It's my most prized asset!

very good choice, there's no good coming from exessive drinking, all it does is make you do think you regret later, plus there is the headace, the throwing up, not even to mention that logn term it makes you stupid because it kills brain cells, fat because it contains tons of calories and it can even kill you as it damages your liver.
Despite this being comon knowledge, millions of people consume great quantities of the stuff every day ... we humans are a stupid, stubborn race ...

This one's my favourite!
Your brother has a very peculiar pose that fits somehow with the sofa, which has a really texture (the suede) for the photo.
It all looks like painted.
Still, there's something that bothers me in it. The blurryness, it doesn't look enough crisp to me
keep it up!

Wow, very cool. I love how the black and white brings out the highlights, its perfect. Also the position of his body is great, its really cool to hear that it wasn't intentional, thats just how he was. Great work!

This is a great shot, I see it as a modle intentionally posing for some sort of Ad too. It's great to just snap a photo out of the blue and get something really great out of it. I love his positioning.
It's slightly blurry though, is that just the scanner or something?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MissDawn In reply to AToxicDelight [2006-06-13 21:23:32 +0000 UTC]
Blur is probably me trying to hold a camera instead of using a tripod with a low ISO setting. (The shutter is open longer). So, Its probably just from holding it.
Thanks.

Ooh! I need to get myself a tripod, I hate standing there and waiting for it to snap the picture, haha, but tripods aren't the best.
