Description part of my fighting for? series where i depict kids in protest rallies... once again, do they know what they're fighting for?

i have to make it clear though that protests here in the philippines are almost always political in nature... its almost always a stab at the current administration... they use issues, be it about a war in a foreign land, price increase, wage increases, heck even the price of pan-de-sal (a bread common in the philippines) to throw mud at the current administration whoever is seated there... and most of the time... these protest rallies get disperesed... rather violently at times...

kids have no place in rallies of this nature... they have no business marching with militants knowing that anytime rubber bullets or tear gas would rain down on them... they are victims of politicking... victims of mud throwing... this should not be.

i've covered a LOT of protest rallies... and i mean a LOT! and almost always... these groups bring kids along... probably sons or daughters of members of militant groups... i really dont like this idea... in the first place... why bring these kids? do they know why they're there? do they know what they're fighting for?

Excellent work on this one! I don't know but in this country they always use kids as a tool to get notice! but it's better than some countries seeing them with guns! but still look at street children selling those sampaguita! it's similar! i think those people who take care of them should teach them better! because child labor is illegal but here they don't really care!

Some children are bright, and they do know what the paraphrased political positions and ideas are... however, the majority.. wouldnt really really understand I think... however, the presence of children lightens the tension in the rally I think, and at the same time, creates a heightened sense of 'presence' of the majority there... esp when on televised broadcasts... it dramatises the rally even more! I'm simply speaking from a generic rally point of view... and the views of Iraq and all that... well that is a sensitive topic I dont wanna delve into.

You make an excellent point... Those kids should not be in the streets protesting for what their parents think.
Beautiful angle, thus beautiful picture, as usual

you know, its a pity that children are becoming tools for protests and are corrupted in such a manner. Im quite sure they don't even know why they are there...hell im even sure they don't know whats written on the banners. Its just downright stupid and idiotic. sorry for the rant...

Another great photo. I love the boldness of this photo. We always love to pass our trash to children. so sad.
