Description
Β©2008 Sarah B. Seiter - - Do not use without permission - Colored PencilThis was an experiment in using a limited number of colors in an image. I think I only used 8 or 9 different pencils total on black paper.
I am working on a couple more to go along with this set

Man I love this...I've always loved mermaids and wish I could draw them worth a darn...I was watching the little mermaid with my two year old god daughter yesterday and I still know that movie line by line, heart by heart. Then I remeberd that was the movie that got me into music...odly enough. I love the way you did this..it's so lovely your talent is just wonderful.

Man that's just gorgeous! I actually LOVE the limited color scheme here.. I used to scuba dive and the lower you go the fewer colors you can actually see.. somehow this makes me think of that lol

She is supposed to be reminiscent of a sea anemone Since clown fish tend to hang around them lol

i love this. the simplicity of the colors lends so much to the finished product. and the splash of orange is so pretty! i just love all the small details in the shading and in her hair and face.
i just love it!

The whites are actually a really pale skin color and cream Very little actual white was used in this one.

I love the contrast of the fish, it almost pushes the mer creature to the background which makes Her much more startling and mysterious. I like it :'D

She's a pretty one, Sara.
I'm not sure about the fish. The contrast in color seems jarring.

She is actually done on different layers to create a 3D effect. You can't really tell in the scan since I just scanned her flat. If you look close enough you can see that the fish are each an a different layer as are her arm and several tendrils of her hair. She is an experiment I will take some photos of her once she is framed and the 3D effect is finished.
