This is ridiculously adorable as well as aesthetically pleasing. Nice use of space and curvy lines, especially the mother's tail!

I love your sketching style. The shading is all so smooth, but still detailed and textured; And you do hair amazingly well.
As for the picture itself, it's very well done. The style of fin you've chosen goes really well with the image, and the way the mother is just-almost-but-not-really holding on to her child makes it seem like a real mother and child (And i'm sure that particular effect came from somewhere.
