This was suggested to me by my friend joshrossco [link]This is a scene from the Hobbit in where 12 of the dwarves have been captured and poisoned by the spiders in Mirkwood. Bilbo then resues them and fights off attacking spiders as the dwarves stumble away bruised and ill.
I only drew 8 dwarves. 12 was too many. I had good intentions to draw them all, but not enough room, or maybe patience. So the other 4 dwarves (not including Thorin) are off the page infront of Bofur.

Thank you! I am surprised at how easily this came together, especially the cluster of dwarves. Like I said I would've liked to do all 12 dwarves and probably could have if I wanted to make it more difficult, but I am more than pleased with it as is and that it was as easy as it was (surprisingly).

It's a great piece. The limitations of paper space can be a challenge. I had a similar problem with that twenty-four character piece from last month. Did you map out where the characters would all go before penciling or inking? They all have their own movement patterns so it's a very good job indeed.

I started on the right with Bofur, then just worked my way backward trying to keep in mind there would be some in front of and behind others.

This is excellent. They all look awesome, especially bilbo, he looks like a bad ass. I will have to get to work on my version soon.

I wanted to show Balin at the other end leading the charge, but also didn't want to kill myself trying to make it all fit.
Do you see Bombur barfing in the bg? You'll be able to see it better once it's colored.
