Description
Here's another sketch - I felt I was neglecting my pastels so I came back to them for this one.I think this piece is about coming to terms with the past. Most of us remember the past with fondness and try to enshrine old friends and good times in our mind.
In reality, the past is dead. There is little point in trying to hang on to it: people move on and things evolve. Friends turn into strangers, enemies dissolve into the crowd and old flames become someone else's lovers.
However, feelings for people and places still linger and as much as I want to stick to my guns I can't help but to feel slave to the good times of the past...where flames burned, ashes and cinders remain; and here I am still, bringing flowers to a beautiful grave.

There isn't anything wrong with looking to the past as long as you don't stay there.
When you grow older (ahem...like closer to my age), you're past becomes a history lesson. Things that you did right and wrong can be looked at with a more critical eye than one with emotion.
However you have a good point when we can latch on to things that don't exist anymore. But time heals all things and you'll be able to finally walk away from the beautiful grave. Ashes will seep into the ground and nurture something beautiful that takes time to grow.
Emotions aside: I love the subtle colours of the pastels. The sparkle around the beads and her eye makeup are really brought to life with such a simple hit of white.

Wonderful Philosophical advice. Very well timed advice as well, since I had a series of blasts from the past in the recent months that were interfering with my current set of values. I hope time will help me heal certain things for good!
Thank a million!

it is noon .. and it is a weekend .. life is not something that I really understand I am silent as always I don't show any of my feelings now I hide every word I want to say, coz I thought why grown ups would be interested in such thoughts like mine ? they have some more interesting things to think and talk about !
hot strong sun is boiling the road and HUGE humidity in the air ..

I love the way you use colours... she's very pretty and her hair is gorgeous. I always love braided hair because it has lot of work on it.
right to faves!
