Description
My favorite GI Joe villains hands down are the Dreadnoks. If you don't know who the Dreadnoks are this will help give you an idea of who they are: [link]A long time ago I did a mug shot picture of the characters and after coming across it again I decided to redraw it and add a few more of my favorites from the gang and even went so far as to use some of my friends as the models for the characters.
Special Thanks to my favorite models:

Sweet, thanks. I actually still have themajority of mine, or knabbed them up again online. I'm waiting till payday to see if my wife will let me squeeze in at least Ray & Winston from the new Mattel line. I just need the two of them to complete my movie one group & go along with my movie two group. Then if I'm real lucky snatched up the exclusive GB Matty Collector GB2 Winston in is tan suit with the GB2 logo & slime blower, if I'm reeeeeaaal lucky that is. Yeah, I'm a bit of a fanatic, but I like zillions of others have been waiting twenty some years for movie figures. And it was sure worth it, they look awesome. Cheers man.

No problem. I'm glad they started making realistic versions of them as figures but I still love the old cartoon ones, especially the ghosts. Those were awesome. If they make an Ecto-1 to go with the new figures I will go insane.
And don't worry I am the same way with a few old toy lines and cartoons. The only Ghostbuster I still have is the original cartoon Winston still in package. Everything else got broken or given away without my permission. Fucking parents

Very true, that there Winston in the bo would be a pretty good gold mine today. Seems like most of the GB merchandise these days are going for bookoo bucks online. And if he is still in the box in decent condition he'd be a pretty penny waiting to happen. I can't help myself with cool characters in boxes, have a few still in them. Though like my GB2 four pack & Egon San Dieago con eclusive, couldn't stand it any more. There now chillin on my shelf looking awesome waiting for the rest to show up and look incredibly radical.

The package is a bit worn and has some bends but other than that it's in good shape. I think if I'm desperate I'll sell it some day but I really don't want to part with it.
I'm the same way with most of my stuff. If it came in a box I take it out of it and display it unless it's a duplicate of one I already have.

Yup, me too. I still have a few of the G.I. JOE 25th's still in their box with no intention of opening them based on having doubles already opened. Not to mention I found my Flint priced a few years back at about $150, so he's staying in the box in great shape obviously. But my GBs have to be out & on display, waited too long for them. :]

hehe I know the feeling. When they made M.A.S.K.'s Matt Trakker part of the 25th Anniversary assortment for GI Joe I had to grab him and put him on display. I only wish they would re-issue the toys from that series and finally produce the one vehicle they never made from the comics and cartoon.

Would be pretty sweet, there are so many cool franchises from back in the day that would be even cooler today if done right. It's like I was showing my older son the pics of the new upcoming Thundercats series and he told me "you & mom had the coolest stuff back then". I told him "yeah, but now with the tech & talent your generation has in toys (our) stuff is going to be even cooler". There is so much that can be done with awesome toys based on all the excellent stuff from back in the day, should be worth seeing & collecting. Gotta check with my local comic shop to see if my copy of Ghostbusters Infestation issue #2 is in & ready for me now, later man.

As soon as they could talk I got my niece and nephew into all the old 1980s cartoons and comic books I loved. Instead of Barbie my niece carried a Ghost Rider doll and I got my nephew addicted to GI Joe
Personally I wish they would just re-issue improved versions of the old toys instead of making new ones like they did with all the 1980s Transformers.

Awesome, yeah I agree. They kind of drained the Transformers dry with all the endless different versions. I found my self as a true dedicated TF fan getting real tired of it all. Thankfully some of the recent stuff is slowly getting back to cooler roots, and they finally are starting to move away from the blasted movie inspired Joes and back to cooler updated classics. The new series looks pretty awesome with classic Lowlight & Sci-Fi finally getting their rebirth, and they look so rad, can scream YO JOE & COBRAAA with confidence & pride once more. It's about time they figured how to take todays magic in toy design & give it all the realistic justice they deserve.

Yeah like I know a lot of fans love the newer Transformers stuff but none of it really grabs me like the ones that came out when I was a kid.
I know what you mean, those live action movies are goddamn disgraces. Transformers 2 was like an endurance test for my blood pressure medicine and the GI Joe movie was a disaster. The only cool part of it was the Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow fights.
I still got my original SciFi and Low-Light. I love those guys. I wish they would re-issue some of the other vehicles in their classic colors. I'd love to get a hold of a new Thundermachine and Dreadnok Cycle.

Absolutely man, with any luck Hasbro might start listening to their fans/customers and get back to the roots of our faved franchises. Lets hope so any way, it's starting to look promising though. Keep your fingers crossed & eyes open, they might get it soon.

In a way the comics are listening to the fans. IDW got Larry Hama back on the comics and he started one that is Hasbro reinventing GI Joe based somewhat on that god awful movie and the other continues the original run he started at Marvel. I only hope he borrows some of the characters from the Devil's Due/Image run and brings them into the continuity. I'd love to see Zanya, Zartan's daughter again.

Yup, is & would be very awesome. Hama is the man in the Joe world, only he gives them hope to stay alive in the real sense. And I kinda dig the newer Greenshirt style in DD/Image, brought them up to date in a cool lookin way. The Cobra troops looked pretty sweet as well, though I could do with out Alexander trying to step in as Destro. Only his old man can pull off being as rad as he's always been, little punk kid wannabe Destro was very uncool.

MJMJR In reply to Optic-AL [2011-03-27 11:09:33 +0000 UTC]
The problem with the DD/Image stuff was once Josh Blaylock left the writing went to shit. They seemed more concerned with trying to out-do the original series body count and trying to repeat the classic storylines like the Cobra Civil War and throw shit in for shock value rather than tell interesting stories.
They kept trying to retread old ground isntead of forging new stories that didn't piss off the fans. I mean killing off beloved characters like Mainframe and Lady Jaye in that series was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever seen.
Alexander Destro wasn't so bad to me but I thought he was pretty much wasted after the first storyline with him. He just stayed a background character and didn't do much of anything.

All I can to say to all of this is......very, very true. They took the whole thing in the wrong direction nearly plundging the entire franchise down the craper, wich is why we now have IDW. Thank goodness for some brain cells kicking around the industry.

Yeah I'm thankful IDW knew what to do and I hope if Larry leaves they get someone like Blaylock to take the reigns since I think only someone who is a super fan of the franchise can write it. They know what fans love and they respect the characters and source material.
This is what drives me nuts about some writers and movie directors. They will claim to be super fans of the comics or whatever they are using as the source for the project and then completely fuck it all up because they need to make it their version and not the way it should be.

I'm collecting all the old comics from Marvel and I'm waiting for someone to do a full set of the 1980s cartoons. Rhino video started to and then stopped halfway through the second season because they lost the rights to produce them.
It pissed me off because the next set was going to have my all time favorite episode. Nightmare Assault
