Description

In an alternate universe teenage Gwen Stacey and not Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider during a science demonstration and gained super powers becoming Spider-Woman.

Making a costume to disguise her identity Gwen made a talk show appearance showing off her powers to gain fame and money. Her father, Police Captain George Stacey who didn’t know Gwen was Spider-Woman disapproved of the super powered show-off wasting her gifts on show business rather than helping people.

Gwen’s oft bullied best friend and fellow student Peter Parker became inspired by Spider-Woman to try and give himself super powers. Injecting himself with an experimental serum Peter mutated into the Lizard and went on a mindless rampage. Spider-Woman showed up and battled the Lizard beating him into submission.

Spider-Woman was stunned when the defeated Lizard reverted back to Peter Parker. Peter confessed to Spider-Woman that he had only wanted to be special like her before he succumbed to his wounds and died.

After Peter died Spider-Woman was immediately blamed for his death by J. Jonah Jameson who publicly denounced her as a murderer at a press conference and began a smear campaign against her in the Daily Bugle as well as offering a reward for her apprehension.

Guilt ridden that her carefree actions caused Peter’s death Gwen became a vigilante to take responsibility for it and to make sure her best friend didn’t die in vain.
