Description My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos… ruined dreams… this wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called Max.

To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time when the world was powered by the black fuel and the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now, swept away.

For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing. They built a house of straw… The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked, but nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled, the cities exploded, a whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear… men began to feed on men.

On the roads it was a white line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice. And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and smashed. Men like Max.

The warrior Max, in the roar of an engine he lost everything and became a shell of a man, a burnt out desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past… a man who wandered out into the wasteland.

…And it was here, in this blighted place that he learned to live again...

I was hoping you'd find it

Me too, I love all of them. I used to mimic Wez when I'd play video games with my niece and nephew.

I know, I absolutely love the first two in the series. There is a new one that is in development called Mad Max: Fury Road

Hmmmm Heard about this.....I hope its good.

In this day and age, that is a rare thing.

Lets hope eh?

I hope so too. The only thing I heard for sure about it was Mel Gibson said he wasn't going to play Max anymore because he's too old for the part.

I really hope it's good, I can't take another bad sequel to a franchise I love. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull nearly killed me.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull nearly killed me"

I know what you mean - I nearly wept. Where was the man we knew with the stubble, the hat, the jacket, and the whip? They should have left it at the Last Crusade and that be that - but OH NO!! We have to flog the F***ing horse AGAIN!!!

Least Mel has got the good sense to realise his limits. Plus all that drama he has.

Maybe Sam Worthington could do it - he is an australian, and a hardman, maybe him.

However I would be seldom surprised - everything has to be UBER digital and 3D! Nothing can be simple.

But one can hope - until we see the trailer that is....

I mean basically I loved the storyline for Crystal Skull but that fridge scene was probably the dumbest fucking thing ever. Indy was never superman, he did awesome shit but most of it, even at it's craziest in the previous films was still plausable.

What I thought they were going to do was have Indy hotwire a car and drag race the Russians away from the bomb site. I mean they set it up with the opening of the movie and it would have made more sense and been awesome.

Yeah, I don't see Mel doing much of anything anymore after those calls leaked out.

I don't know who they could get to play Max but with a name like Fury Road they better have road battles out the ass in it. I want to see something as good or better than the one we saw at the end of Road Warrior.

I also hope we get some really good villains as well. Ones on par with Wez and the Humungous.

I think what ruined Thunderdome was the fact they didn't have any really memorable baddies that felt like threats except Auntie and Ironbar and she crapped out in the end and Ironbar ended up being more like comic relief than a real threat.

Also way too much time spent with the tribal kids.

Exactly - I saw that and went "jumped the Shark Lucas"; what the hell was he thinking....to be honest your idea would have been cooler - drag racers, car chase (can NEVER have enough car chases!!!)...probably did not want to get Harrison hurt due to his age - health and safety....insurance....

Yes....entertaining for all the wrong reasons - cannot look at his films now without thinking that. Let this be a lesson for old men divorcing long term spouces for swift flings with young things!

I agree - it BETTER have some white knuckle ride driving - should get that Greengrass fella who did the Bourne Films - those were some epic car chases!

Like I said - cannot have enough car chases.

OH F*** YES!! HUMOUR!! HUMOUR!!! HUMOUR!!!! The Humungous - wow! Clever, part Jason, part Arnie, part Graham Norton!

Finally - Nods like a F***ing woodpecker!! PLEASE NO KIDS!!!

Excellent feedback sir!

I didn't have a problem with Harrison Ford's age because plenty of action movie guys can still pull off being badasses on screen despite their age. I mean look at Sean Connery, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone. They're up there in age and they can still pull off playing action characters.

I really have no place to talk about that since my girlfriend is way younger than me

Yeah, and I hope they don't go nuts with CGI in the new Mad Max. What I loved about the originals was it was real cars getting into real chases with really insane crashes and high speed battles. I only hope that Max gets a car as balls out cool as the Persuit Special V8 Intercepter. Even beat to shit that car was pure badass.

If he gets a pet dog again, I'm fine with it or one kid like the Feral Kid in Road Warrior, okay, but if he starts dicking around with a tribe of kids and teenagers I'm out.

No problem

True point!

Oops!

Of course they will, dammit; sorry a real full blood car chase, well, says it all...I agree, hope its an over engined, overtuned whiny piece of testosterone!!!

HEAR HEAR!!! Could be worse - an annoying teen girl who happens to be apocalyptic chic!!

Anytime

Like how Tarantino did Death Proof. He didn't use any CGI in the car scenes and they looked figgin amazing. I loved the chase at the end, though it broke my heart seeing two awesome muscle cars like that get trashed

With any new movie based on an old one I love I usually prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I highly recommend Death Proof on it's own. I didn't care for the other movie, Planet Terror, that was part of the Grindhouse Double Feature though the fake trailers inbetween the two movies were funny.

No problem. Just understand he did the movie as a tribute to old action/horror/car movies from the 70s and made it look the way he did on purpose to give you the impression your watching an old Drive-In Theatre movie but set in modern times.

I heard that is where it went down. He (cliché) faked it (sort of like an orgasm!).

If he has a pittance budget, then yep it would be highly praised, but it cost a lot and for something cheap looking. Then again I was told that to do a cheap film in Hollywood (unless its arty and backed by a celeb) you must have 100 Mill to start with.

Having said that - its the taste not the expense!

Lets hope Fury Road is the blockbuster that makes people cry out for more instead of cry out!

MJMJR In reply to Colourbrand [2012-04-02 13:28:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the film looks grainy in parts, skips and that sort of thing but it doesn't take away from the coolness of it.

I don't know, I heard if you want to make a real low budget movie like Kevin Smith did when he made Clerks you have to have a minimum budget of a million though the cheapest ones to make are horror movies like The Blair Witch project.

I'm probably the wrong guy to talk about this sort of thing anyway since I adore bad movies. Like one of my favorite sites is this one [link]

I couldn't agree more with you on Fury Road.

Did you write the description yourself? Or is Mad Max based on a book?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to donatien1740 [2012-03-15 23:59:49 +0000 UTC]

Mad Max is a trilogy of movies from Austraila that starred Mel Gibson and basically the reason he became famous. It started the whole post apocalyptic warrior genre in film and has inspired countless imitators and homages.

I highly recommend the first two films. The third one, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, is probably the weakest of the trilogy but it's still a decent movie.

The description is actually the opening narration from the sequel to Mad Max, Mad Max: The Road Warrior. It pretty much recaps the first movie and tells what happened to Max, why he is the way he is and what happened to the world in general. It was never touched on in the first film why half of society was still somewhat normal while the other half had become barbaric maniacs.

I have to watch the movies again, I liked them.

I love them, they were one of those films I became obsessed with as a kid. I actually used to play Mad Max on our first treadmill by tying cars to it and cranking it up as fast as it would go. I also made a lot of my old toy cars look like Mad Max style vehicles
