Description
This is intended as a counterpart to [link]Kaitlin is skinny. A lot of times, images of her garner catty remarks about how she needs to eat more, or whatever. Anyhow... I'd been thinking of doing a shot of her sitting in a corner with a plate with a single baked bean on it, but then I realized that it'd be pretty hard to see what was going on. Besides, the nasty remarks are often unsubtle - which means an unsubtle image is more likely to work.
Anyhow, I find it amazing that people are so concerned about whether a complete stranger is fat, or thin, or tattooed, or - whatever. As if it's their business, somehow? Well, if it's my business, I make sure my models are well-fed.

Oh my... well, I don't know if I'd consider McDonald's "well fed" food.
Maybe some vegetarian Thai dish instead... mmmm

Congrats on your well-earned DD. I know you've been getting loads of comments, but I wanted to add my own to the mix.
People forget that there shouldn't be one standard for beauty or power. It's not about one type being better than another, or even having a stronger influence or control. We forget that our diversity is what makes us so wonderful. No, we shouldn't all be obese and we shouldn't be all super skinny, but being the RANGE is what makes life interesting. We shouldn't say so and so is making us be one extreme or the other; instead, we should say there are many things that make us who we are. If we were all easily controlled by one thing to be one way, we would lose sight of what's important: to be ourselves! Being an individual doesn't mean conforming or even not conforming. It means doing what makes us happy. So if your model is lean and healthy, that's great! If she loves McDonald's, awesome! If she likes punching Hello Kitty in the face, fantastic! That's what make her herself. We should never define ourselves by one factor, one influence, one adjetive. It's the range of anything we can be that makes us turn out so interesting.
I thank you for this piece. Very clever. Besides, I really don't think your model is complaining in the slightest. Like someone else said before: nudity, bondage, fast food... what more could we ask for?! Congratulations again; you've earned it.

I think that if I ever actually force-fed a model, I'd be looking at multiple felony charges and 10-20 years if convicted.

I love this, love this. I used to be married to a model who was 5'8" and 105 lbs and ate more than I did (and I am a hefty guy). People were always accusing her of anorexic or bulemic...the simple fact of the matter was she had a great metabolism.
We are not "one size fits all", nor should we be.

Well said.
I had a great metabolism until I hit my mid 30s. Ugh. I think that's what happens a lot in our society -- people conflate being thin with youth, and it gets all wrapped up in age/beauty/self image issues.

Yeah, I was a skin and bones guy until I blew out my ankles running track...the years have not been kind to my waistline, but I'm working on it. It was funny, people's reactions to us (I and my ex) when we were together. She was 18 years my junior and ethereally beautiful. I was a middle-aged, thick-waisted grey-haired guy with a ponytail. Can't tell you how many times some guy would come up to me and ask me if my daughter was seeing anyone.

The model is beautiful. I really hate that everyone has to pounce on her saying "OMG She's anorexic!" or "She needs to eat!". Some people, like my mother, are just naturally thin. Mom is constantly having people comment on her health when they don't even know what they're talking about.

I look at it this way, it's not my problem if someone wants to die from starvation. It is survival of the fittest in my world!

Excellent sense of humour. Skinny and anorexic are two different things, and people often mixes them. I like how you play with their minds by seemingly forcing the girl to gulp all that fatty food

I think anyone who actually WAS starving themselves to be very thin would probably take comments of "You're too thin!" and "Eat a sandwich!" as a sign of success.
I like this, because it bites back at that sentiment I am so tired of hearing, that someone who is skinny must have some disorder. Some people are naturally thin, just as some are naturally bigger. Big whoop.
If someone you know, on the other hand, really is struggling with a disorder, then you should say something. Refraining from comment on some picture in some gallery isn't "apathy", as was posited somewhere above me.
To the photo itself- I like the contrast of the grey tones with the vibrant Mickey D's stuff... And the look on the model's face that almost says "Ugh, here we go again with the funnel and the greasy food.."
This may be an ignorant question, but...did you actual buy all that food and pile it in a funnel? It doesn't seem physically possible, but I'm often astonished at the feats pulled off by photographers and their models.

Um, I disagree. Unless they're a member of my family or they've somehow invited my involvement, it's none of my business. And it's certainly none of my business if they are a complete stranger. I understand from Kaitlin and some of my other skinny friends that people do sometimes walk up to them and offer "helpful advice" (i.e.: a presumptuous lecture) out of the blue. Can you imagine what would happen if you hung out at WAL-MART and started telling heavy people "maybe you should back off a bit on those hot dogs?" You'd be murdered. Other people's lives are their business and they should be allowed to enjoy it or screw it up without helpful interference. The helpful interference is almost always not really helpful (or appreciated) and says more about the "helper"s issues than anything else.
I did buy all the food. The funnel was supported with a wire which I photoshopped out. The wrapped cheeseburgers are actually the wrappers from the unwrapped ones, wrapped around paper napkins. I didn't want to make my dogs sick by giving them too much McD's crap.

The family/friends thing is pretty much what I meant. Some people can actually tell when a comment on weight like that is appropriate. A lot of people can't, apparently...
