Thank you so much for your kind comments, I really appreciate it! I do write, though there are no detailed stories that come with the characters I draw/paint. I'm not sure what is meant by 'palpable' other than throwing around literary terms to give a critique more of a 'critique-y' sound...
the use of light and shadow to create the 'pillow-embossing' effect of the tattooes on the character's face gives it a surreal appearance...
Masterful use of pencil and paper... did you use blue stock, or was that changed in Photoshop?

Youre use of shading is very well done, especially with a blue-grey background. I also liked the symbols/designs upon the face, neck and forhead. This is very well done ^^
