Hey Sorry guys, been busy ! Haven't checked in in a while ! and Wow ! I'm surprised. This sculpture was done for the First "Hangover movie" it will also appear in the third . I will be posting new work soon from "Hangover 3'.Thank you all for your compliments and praise !
To answer a few questions , yes , carved from 2 blocks of 4 pound density foam . From scratch .I had a small replica to use as a guide . It is for the Caesars palace skit and placed in Vegas. I do not own this piece nor can I sell it . I use a variety of tools to get the smoothness. I start off with a saw wire attached to a sawzall and cut front and side profile . I have loop tools and knives along with rasps and files . Final touch is sanding pads. It was hard coated and steel reinforced up the back of the legs to arm extended .
Thank you all again !

It's not Caesar : /
It's Roman sculpture of Augustus of Prima Porta. It's held in Musei Vaticani in Rome
Excelent work work btw : )

And true, the statue is amazing!

Foam?! Wow, this deserves to be cast in something more durable and placed in a museum! (though since it's not an authentic ancient piece, I guess not, unless it's a movie prop museum! Now that's a museum I'd go too =^_^= )

Did you make this form based off of the Portrait of Augustus as general from Primaporta, Italy? If so a reference to the original model might be nice. Plus it showcases your skill since the original was made of marble but you've accomplished it with just as fine detail with foam.

if I didn't know any better, I would have thought this was stolen from Caesar's Palace

Just woah, I'd say this is a perfect replica of the (replica of) the original I've seen from closer in Rome.

Given the kind of man he was, I'm sure he would've jacked off to this statue of himself.
Great work, by the way. Haha.

Perhaps that is because this is a Roman.
Julius Caesar. One of the most famous Romans.

Actually, this is not Julius but his nephew Octavianus Augustus, Rome's First Emperor. The original of the DD statue above is found at the Fori Romani in Rome, in front of Augustus's fora. Julius's statue is portrayed as definitely more bald, has no raised arm and the armor is less decorated.
I know, I spent too much hours in that street.
Julius is this one

YES. I was waiting for someone to mention this. This image/statue is always misidentified!
Julius was a cool dude, but there were other Roman emperors who were just as fascinating and famous as Julius!

I'm great fan of Julius' figure, so you knock to the wrong door here () but yes, it irks me as well that Augustus statue is believed to be Julius's.
I don't know in the rest of the world, but I'm Italian and on Italian history school textbooks, the statue is always pictured in the chapter of the Roman Empire, when Augustus life is mentioned, so we "grow up" knowing that that statue is Augustus. Or, at least I knew since elementary schools.
