"THOR"

The thor is a huge and powerful terran mechanical walker. Despite the thor being smaller than the Odin , the thor is still heavily armed and armored, and known to be one of the most heavy and powerful mechanical units in the Dominion Armed Forces .Β

"If there's one thing we've learned over the years, it's that sometimes you just need someone who likes to smash things."

- Dominion recruitment file.

Named after the Norse god of thunder , the thor is a class of siege-walker .

Thors only require a single crew member, and those in service during the Second Great War were more maneuverable than the Odin incarnation.

Role

Heavy assault mech

Armament
  • Thor's Hammer particle beams
  • 350 mm Strike CannonsΒ
  • Javelin missile launchers AA
  • Punisher Cannons

WeaponsΒ

The thor is equipped with different types of heavy weapons. It is armed with four "Thor's Hammer" particle accelerators (two are fired from each arm) and carries Javelin missile launchers for use against aerial opponents. On its back reside four 250mm Strike Cannons.

It can be optionally be outfitted with 330mm barrage cannons and ATVX has developed an "immortality protocol," allowing a thor to repair itself in the field as long as its hull remains intact.

By the second phase of the Second Great War it could switch out the Javelin missiles for high-impact Punisher cannons, and reverse the switch as well.

Combat Roles

A thor's primary role is to act as the spearhead: a big tough unit that can push past an artillery barrage or fortified positions or push into an enemy base and lead marines into battle.

Its other primary role is to defend allied units from air attacks with its powerful anti-air weaponry. It works well against air units like , the attack is also effective against heavily armored air units

The thor is countered by range, mobility, and certain anti-armor units. It deals splash damage to ground units, therefore, it can effectively deal with massed units .

A popular strategy with the unit is the "thor harass" (sometimes called "thorship").It involves pairing the thor with a dropship , combining the thor's power and the mobility of the latter.

so any given day under any sky over any sea on any dreadful planet of the solar system we will take u on ...

Cybernetic implants, suit visors, weapon scopes, mobile sensor systems and the good old Mk.I. You can't cloak impact or environmental effects, or a cast shadow.

By the way, when did this become a competition?

Well, it sounds more like an 'everything I have will trump everything you have' kind of thing between non-comparably sized opponents.

well it ain't ....

in fact in the distant distant future one faction "the space marines" stood in the face of many one faction achieves total victory and dominance threw science , technologie and faithΒ  therefore anything the enemy throw at them won't scratch the surface dus conferming that the human mind is the most dangerous weapon

that's a nice war campaign you're having there... it would be a shame if something... happened... to it.

just remember, air superiority always wins. granted, i'm sure this goes a little ways in helping establish air superiority.

One of these gets attacked by a Gryphon's (in-universe equiv of an A-10) cannon, which is the same weapon mounted on the left arm, and withstands it with little more than superficial damage. Missiles and projectiles are knocked out by its ECM and ADS. If you want to bring it down, you're going to need a lot of firepower, like a Terminator rifle (or several), or a hell of a lot of missiles and bombs to overwhelm its defences (full on Macross Missile Massacre). In story, this attack takes place in a built-up urban area that restricts the abilities of air power, which is already dealing with enemy aircraft, so it's basically tanks and infantry versus a mobile fotress. Of course, if you were to commandeer one...

there are similar machines in my own sci-fi, used almost exclusively by the antagonist. the way they are most often brought down is probably the closest thing to fantasy that the whole series gets; bad ass mother fuckers with bad ass skills and bad ass hammer-and-anvil smithed armor and weapons.
