I find it interesting how Rarity takes the most damage from chocolate rain attack. Plus Pinkie Pie being healed by it makes sense so you put a lot of thought into it.

I take it the "Elements Gauge" refers to the Elements of Harmony as a specific Limit Break you can only use when the status of all ponies is in proper sync?

The point is, you have Pinkie use "Babble" to distract Discord and focus all of his single target powers on her. Since all of Discord's attacks (except his basic physical attack; Squeeze, which even then causes Pinkie to Auto-counter with "Honk!") heal pinkie, she takes applejack's place as the party tank. Afterwards you only have to worry about a few of his AoE spells hitting the group. Though despite Pinkie seeming immune to Discord, he can do one thing that can really screw things over and that's "Discording" which confuses Pinkie and makes her no longer immune to Discord's attacks.
but if you keep Twilight on stanby to cure her and anyone else who gets hit with that (Twilight herself is immune as long as her at least one of her friends is not affected by this), which does cause you to lose out on Twilight's heavy hitter magic, but Rainbow Dash and Applejack's DPS combined with Fluttershy and Rarity's buffs and debuffs can make the battle a bit dragged out but an overall cakewalk until you can get the Harmony Gauge Full.

As a warning: have your sound off when you have Pinkie use "babble" as you will get an entire round of her (and the whole battle if you're using her right) repeating "Chima Cherry. Cherry Changa." over and over and over again. And since Rarity's Whining Debuff will be used a lot in this fight too, it's definitely for the best.
