Description Yesterday, my sister, =Cookiephotos , and me were in the Wilhelma , Stuttgart's zoo. We both took quite a load of photos.
So the last one of these animals...
Thanks to *InsaneGelfling , I now also know that it is a Frilled Dragon.

Quite the display of emotion and attitude. The title fits this picture very well, you can tell 'he' is in a bad mood, looks like a grandfather on Sunday morning when the coffee is too hot to drink and the newspaper is full of negative stories.

From a photographers point of view, you did a good job picking the background. There are no distractions or weird colours hiding in the blur and the overall picture has a very narrow colour-palette. Still, the detail on the creature itself is very good and the fact that its looking into the camera enhances the whole emotion part.

I thought about how this would look in a landscape format with the entire body visible and fading into the background, but this image works well too, with the look and stretched neck and its claws gripping the sand pulling the viewers attention away from the rest of its body anyhow.

I agree with the comments on the photography, although I'd like to see a slightly larger DOF, the sharpness is fading a little by the back of the frill and right (his, not ours) front foot.

However, 'you can tell 'he' is in a bad mood' is a classic case of anthropomorphism. This is a Frilled Dragon and would have its frill open as a warning if it were in a bad mood.

oh thank you very much for taking your time for this critique.

I also have a few photos in landscape format, but those sadly didnt turn out as nice as this one, partly because I did a bad job, and partly because his modeling wasn't always as good as in this
