Well all things coincidered that was a pretty damn good start to season three. The animation was better then ever (seriously, thats done on flash!) the characterization was some of the best in the whole show, every pony did what they do best, the songs were cute with 'Ballad of the crystal ponies' being so damn catchy and the background music was epic level.Only problem with most bronies, including myself, being that the new villian King Sombra had NO screen time what so ever, let alone characterization. Thats a shame as MLP has a decent set of villians, Nightmare Moon was fairly simple overall but got better as Luna got more development, Discord owned every scene he was in and Chrysalis kept you guessing right up to the end. Still, given the amount of forshadowing in this ep via Celestia (whats in the book?) hopefully we'll see a return from Sombra with abit more back story to help flesh him out. It shouldn't be to hard, he's basically Sauron/Arthas!
Anyways, the pic was fun. I wanted to go for a old school tyrant look so changed him up abit, hope you all get a kick out of it. Now back to requests.

Hopefully. I would love to see this guy's full potential. I don't think he deserves to be shunned by the other three villains.

I think we will see more to Sombra. There were some things in the episode that could prove that he is not completely "dead"
Also i find it funny that the flags in the drawing looks like the danish flag, suprisingly much actually.. It looks nice

Im not really criticizing his character guy, more the ep. They dedicated alot of time to the other characters (and it was awesome) meaning he got very little. I think he's got alot of potential, he is alot darker then the other villians who were sort of just born bad/corrupted, and I loved his little intro when the mane 6 pulled up to the station (that noise he made was creepy). I just think they should have went for a more atmospheric feel, the scenes where the characters saw the sheild weakening gave a serious sense of panic/fear which was great. I think they should have embraced that making him more of a figure in the mist, again though im not saying he's bad, I really hope we see a return from him.

Yeah, I generally agree with them. As I said Sombra has alot of potential, I just wish the peeps involved embraced the other-worldly side of his character more. His 'presense' throughout the ep was great, its just the fact they decided to show him as a head/pony even though they had no time to do so.

sorry for the probably common question, but on average, how long does it take in total to draw/ink/colour all of this?

3-4 hours to pencil/pen, same again to colour.

Extremely well done drawing. And I fully agree that he had no depth at all, they might as well have him be a force of nature (like global warming lol). Hopefully we'll see his return due to his horn flying away when the explosion happened.

Now THAT is how Sombra should have looked. He has a very strong "Sauron + Ponies" feel here, and it fits him perfectly.
