Here is an inked version of Kunuka. She is 's signature character. A drowess Alu-fiend. For the picture, I let her borrow the staff of Arachnidai (if anyone remembers it). I am also working on a colored version of the base linework for her OC contest.Related content

Ah, yes. I remember now. The staff of Arachnidai was featured in your piece A Drow in Too Deep. I also recall that I gained quite a bit of experience from noticing said item before. 
Your inking skills match your shading and therefore this is a great art work indeed. This piece, like all of your other ones, contains an enormous amount of detail. It really gives the character a sense of importance and it adds to their personality. Well done.

Thanks, I decided the pose seemed a bit too contrived on this one. My goal was to have the straight lines kind of frame the curves of the figure, but I think the end result is that it just ends up looking 'stiff', you know?
Thanks for the comment though, I've always enjoyed working in ink. Colors are much more marketable it seems, but Mojo loves working in absolutes- black and white. He feels there is an inherent purity to the art form... or some such nonsense.

One thing I believe is that every part of a figure 'speaks'. Facial expressions are obvious, but posing and accessories are more subliminal. So how does a figure speak attitude? I don't know entirely. I make a guess and just take a shot at it, really. I'm glad to hear that some of it comes through.

You're so good with inking! Especially with the contours and shading! I like how you based the staff on a spider also, although it now ultimately creeps me out now that I've noticed 8D but it's still an awesome design!

Thanks man! You called it. I have been exaggerating eyes lately. Honestly, its the only way I can get any facial expressions across. When I start making eyes a certain size, they all seem to look the same. Maybe I just need to get bigger paper...

I started doing that for a while, now I do a lot of clean up work in photoshop, so that I can zoom into the trouble spots and not have to be limited by the size of the nib on my pen.

Another challenging pose there. I'm not a fan of the whole drow-crossed-with-demon concept (reminds me too much of 14-year-old fangirl characters), but you rendered it very well. Anatomy isn't 100% correct, but then, it doesn't really have to be.

A bit cliche on the character concept, perhaps. I tried to give a little more warrior feel to her than some of current entries. And yeah, I seem to shamelessly exaggerate anatomy... But I'm glad the pose worked out.
