EDIT
So there has been alot of fuss over this photo looking very similar to the cover of the Twilight book. I'd like to take this time out to state that the similarities between the two happen to be completely unintentional & very unfortunate. I did not realize how alike the two were til after I posted it on another site some months ago. So now that you know that I am aware of how similar the two look you can all stop bringing it up please.

The inspiration did not come from Twilight at all, in fact I am not even remotely close to being a fan of stalkerish sparkly vegetarian vampires. I got the idea to do this last year after a friend sent me a link to Gnarls Barkley's video for "Who's Gonna Save My Soul". I had intended to originally do several photographs using hearts but this was the only one I ever got around to doing.

By the way, for all those wondering: Its a pig's heart.

The real ending to Twilight.

This picture is beautful. What kind of heart is it? A cows?

Its an amazing picture! The hands are a bid overexposed but the heart as middlepoint of the scene is greatly lighted. The idea behind is really amazing.

I canΒ΄t understand why Twilight is chosen to be the ultimate comparison to this picture. The scenery is quite similar but the idea behind is completely different.

I was always a bit upset how my arms came out in this. I had gone a little excessive with the blood & had to edit it out causing them to look a little strange. But after looking back on it after a few months I don't think it looks entirely bad.

Zorndar In reply to monkettes [2009-07-31 13:40:11 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps you could make a new picture of the arms in an similar position and blend them in with an alpha map. The picture donΒ΄t nead it, its quite impressive, but it would make a cleaner look.

This is amazing. It really hits home. I've given my heart to my closest friends. This is almost exactly what it felt like to do so.

I was more fascinated by the heart and didn't think about Twilight until I read the comments.

It's simplet yet portrayed a very deep meaning.
Congrats on the DD

This is a truely amazing picture that speaks a thousand words.
Fact: After the heart is removed from the body, it will still continue to beat for severil minutes. The doctors have 16 - 24 hours to get the heart into the new owner...
This picture really speaks to me on how giving some people are. I am truely inspired to be an organ doner <3!!!

You got that right. In fact, I bet I could rewrite it and make it SO much better!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Pentacle5 In reply to UberChimerism [2009-08-01 02:36:36 +0000 UTC]

I have been tempted to rewrite the whole thing...for one, Bella would not lose her sarcasm as soon as she hooks up with Edward and she would either have better self-esteem fitting her cozy life or she'd have had some traumatic event that had happened when she was a child. And she would not describe Edward's beauty every other page! Jacob would not break character and become a total asshole in book three. And as for imprinting on a newborn? Just...no. Urrgghh! It's not that I hate the books, it's just that there's so much wrong with them and the fan base is so disproportionate!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

UberChimerism In reply to Pentacle5 [2009-08-01 03:22:10 +0000 UTC]

Among other things, if I rewrote it, Bella would be more like Holden Caulfield or Mia Thermopolis of The Princess Diaries. Now THERE was a good series from a high school girl's point-of-view.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pentacle5 In reply to UberChimerism [2009-08-01 04:25:13 +0000 UTC]

I wasn't fond of Holden, and I haven't read the Princess Diaries, but I suppose I'd make Bella more like Ponyboy or Elphaba. And Edward would be less stalker-esque and less traditionalist.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

UberChimerism In reply to Pentacle5 [2009-08-01 04:45:26 +0000 UTC]

Who's Elphaba? And what didn't you like about Holden?

And ditto about Mr. Ed.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pentacle5 In reply to UberChimerism [2009-08-01 05:23:24 +0000 UTC]

Elphaba is from Wicked: The Life and Times of The Wicked Witch of the West.

I guess Holden just seemed to me...not exactly whiny, and moody isn't quite what I'm looking for. Cynical? That and he didn't really have any qualities that I like in a person. Mind you I haven't read it in six years. My opinion might change now. However, the writing was well-done, as was the characterization even if it was a character I didn't like. And, of course, it lends realism to a character if not everyone likes her/him, which is to commended. It was a good book; I just...didn't get along well with Holden Caulfield.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

UberChimerism In reply to Pentacle5 [2009-08-01 05:31:00 +0000 UTC]

It wouldn't hurt to read it again, especially since you consider it well-written...

And maybe cynicism's the shot in the arm Bella needs, at least for the first part of Twilight...

"Very visually dynamic" XD!

It makes my chest ache just looking at it. I think anyone who's experienced a bad heartbreak (all are bad but I mean severe) can feel that by looking at this. I don't mean that as an insult, lol.

I've recently compared my being ready for a relationship again (healed and not needy)...to putting my heart back on the chopping block. It's risking so much pain, but the only way to really give someone your all.

Are you going to finish that? Because if not I'd love to take a bite out of it. Just kidding *winks* but this is a very good concept, the blood on the hands isn't far to excessive but it has enough so you can't miss it. Plus the words in your artist comment helped to further impact the image and make people wonder "what for" Great job ^_^
