So there has been alot of fuss over this photo looking very similar to the cover of the Twilight book. I'd like to take this time out to state that the similarities between the two happen to be completely unintentional & very unfortunate. I did not realize how alike the two were til after I posted it on another site some months ago. So now that you know that I am aware of how similar the two look you can all stop bringing it up please.
The inspiration did not come from Twilight at all, in fact I am not even remotely close to being a fan of stalkerish sparkly vegetarian vampires. I got the idea to do this last year after a friend sent me a link to Gnarls Barkley's video for "Who's Gonna Save My Soul". I had intended to originally do several photographs using hearts but this was the only one I ever got around to doing.
By the way, for all those wondering: Its a pig's heart.

Perhaps, although since you are the artist, you may think it's absurd. But since many people have seen the relation, maybe it isn't so absurd after all? I don't agree with the twilight enthusiasts, in fact, I think it's rather stupid to immediately compare someone's artwork to something else like that. But I definitely see where people get that idea, is all I was saying.
Like I said, I wasn't bashing you. Calm down. I never left a comment saying "omg it's twilight, heart heart". If you read my comment, I related it to a butcher's hands.

Well the fact that they claim it is inspired by Twilight is what pisses me off, Ive seen this exact style of portraits done long before twilight. Perhaps if it were an apple, but its not.

This is an absolutely wonderful piece. I'm sorry people keep referring to Twilight because the pose is very similar, but to be honest, I think C.S. Lewis used something like this before. Whatever, doesn't matter. This is beautiful.
We dissected a whole fetal pig in Human Anatomy my senior year of high school. Aside from the smell of formaldyhide (I know that isn't spelled right), I loved the project. Would've like to done something similar to this but that wasn't necessarily an option. Haha. So I took a picture of the whole pig pinned open.

I remember the book, "The Giver"... read it in 6th grade.. xD and this reminds me of a small version of the deer heart I had to dissect in my advanced biology class last year.. -sigh- I miss high school.. anyway congrats on your DD and I looove this shot :3

People keep relating this image to Twilight, and they can't see the actual beauty of this shot because of the accusations they're making.

This is by far, probably one of my favorite photos i've ever seen on this site. Then again, its probably mostly because I just really have a soft spot for hearts that actually LOOK like hearts and the composition of this piece is stunning. That, and a little bit of the macabre is all ways a good thing.

This remainds me of this little story where a guy rips out his heart and gives it to his girlfriend because she doesn't believe that he loves her. Wow. It's amazing. I love this.

anyways... wow, i really love this picture. the bloody heart and the person holding it makes it seem freshly torn out. and the title "The Giver"... have you ever read the book, because i think this picture would go well with it.

it's a good book. the picture and title made me think of it when Jonas got his new "job" and saw how cruel the real world was. took a large toll on his heart. and am i really the only person who got the point?
