I must agree! The bold stripes, the strong lavender tones, the gorgeous little blue-green eyes! Did you get her from a breeder directly?Β

Both of my leopard geckos were purchased from Pet Smart. I was looking at different breeders before stumbling upon this little guy and his tank mate while purchasing some crickets for my house geckos. Both were very young (a couple weeks old?) and since they were at Pet Smart I have no idea as to their genetics. Of course it was love at first sight and Iβve was quite lucky since both have so far been healthy animals. Iβm not certain, but I think Valor is a high yellow aberrant and the other monkeystyle3000.deviantart.comβ¦ a tangerine aberrant. It would be fantastic if Valor retained some of that lavender coloring as she grows. A high yellow lavender would be quite pretty!

Petsmart gets most of its reptiles from breeders who can produce large scale such as Mack's Reptiles. I know that for a fact (as I worked at a PetSmart for a while), so your answer can be yes! Mack's tends not to sell baby geckos that have not already shed at least once or twice either and prove to be eating, which means about 3 weeks to 4 weeks old, so that's likely the age you got them at (about 2 inches long, maybe slightly more?).
Although genetics are a mystery, it's easy to see they have good ones. Aberrant patterns are becoming pretty common these days too, as they are quite attractive and have led to the development of such types of geckos as Bandit, Snow, Super Snow, and other such designer morphs.Β
I have gotten geckos from pet stores before, and they're always wonderful! Actually, I got better geckos from petsmart, pet supplies plus, and petco than I ever have at local pet stores and one of my best geckos came direct from the breeder. Local pet stores so far always seem to get their geckos from 'local' breeders who don't have a clue what they are doing, which is obvious since the geckos have terrible temperaments, a sign that they were incubated at far to high of a temp. Another sign is the bright colors they displayed. Some of the prettiest geckos I have ever known, yet with the WORST personalities!! I actually gave one gecko away because he was so fowl and unpleasant, even though he had been lovely as a baby.
In any case, your geckos are beautiful! Valor is definitely a high yellow/bold stripe but otherwise seems normal. Siren seems like a hypo tangerine carrot tail to me. I have two, they're such a gorgeous morph And they happen to be two of my sweetest geckos too, aside from my albino patternless and my super snow blizzard/patternless.

Thank you! So far they are both so sweet, I hope they both stay that way as they mature! I'm learning more and more each day about these lovely animals.

Well here's another fun fact... Most lizards are smarter than the average dog!! ;DΒ
Monitor lizards such as Nile, Water, Bosc (AKA Savannah), and the rest can count higher, have better memory retention skills over long periods of time, and learn new things faster. They are also pretty easy to work with due to their highly food-motivated state. x3 Even Komodo dragons can become what is known as 'dog tame' with proper training to avoid their feeding response always being in 'on' mode! Though with Komodos, as with any other large, dangerous exotic animal, you don't WANT to seek them as pets. They just aren't pets. It's even possible for lizards to bond with their owners though. Tegus are renowned for becoming quite affectionate as long as all of their husbandry needs are met and you understand their behavior.Β

MY personal experience with various types of lizards is that even the tiny ones like leopard geckos can learn targets, ques, and basic "Come here" kind of commands. They definitely can be taught when it is time to eat, when it is time to come out, and they learn quickly with gentle handling that people are not so dangerous.Β
