Description Inspired by a photo from Codex: Imperial Guard, from the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000.

This sucker took almost two days to ink by hand. The far background isn't inked in the original drawing; that would have taken FAR too much ink for my liking, so the only alteration done on the computer was that.

Techpriests friggin' ROCK. I'm normally a Chaos and Tyranid man m'self, but the cold logic cybernetics of the Skitarri appeals to me.

Years. As far back as I can remember...hm, 2001? A little while before the Tau came out. Tyranid was my first army.

I guess you must have quite a collention then? lol
I faintly remember tidbits from when I was seven, I lost all my Warhammer stuff when we moved to America. Now I can't collect it anymore cause it's too pricey...T__T
Plus too many things changed (rule wise) *sigh* But I still love it

A rather big collection, yeah, but my Tyranid force hasn't reached the 2,000pt area; haven't bought a box set in a loooong time.

I'm trying to go to one of the tournaments they have in the mall at wednesdays, but work always comes up T_T
Even though I can't play, I'd still love to watch...and freak out the guys XD So much fun to see their faces when I walk in a dress

Haha, yeaaaah. GW freaks are always bothered by girls who take an interest in the game.

Its not as bad as, say, D&D nerds, though. When confronted with one of the female persuasion, they always try and play off like thet have a Charisma score of 18 or somethin'.

XD I find it rather adorable, the way they are profoundly confused.

Oh GOD *rolls eyes* Amen to that!

Ooooh. That'd make a fine addition to any Space Marine force

Though it'd be a bugger to convert

I'd pay to see someone make that, though.

If only Forgeworld didn't cost an arm, leg, and half your immediate family to buy even the smallest thing. >/

Two grand for a space marine fortress? Yeah, fuck THAT....

My X-Box didn't cost nearly as much!!

And the damn thing is about as big as an Xbox. 'Cause, ya know. Xbox is huge.

But, yeah, the thing costs THAT MUCH. Mind you, its a full resin kit, and its big enough to be a table all on its own...but for a fraction of the cost to buy it and have it shipped, you could just make it yourself with foamboard and plasticard.

EvilEgg In reply to MonkeyToho [2006-02-02 09:35:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, and a custom-made would be far more... um, custom. You'd think a games console would cost more, seeing as how it actually does something beyond look pretty and support little pewter/plastic men

I'm under the impression that its cost making it vs supply and demand. An xbox, for instance, uses common electrical items and a hard plastic shell, both relatively easy to make. Its demand is constant, though not ravening like the PS2 when it came out.

The fortress, on the other hand, uses resin (not easy to make), a giant mould (unwieldly), and very few people have the cash to lay down for it. Thus, the much higher price to compensate for effort and time; it has to be hand-made, unlike a game system which is on an assembly line.

One of the BEST techpriest drawings I've ever seen. I love the little servitor guy in the background...hes so cute ^^
There's a lot of detail, its cool.
One thing, the arch in the hallway LOOKS a little wonky.

MonkeyToho In reply to baenling [2006-02-02 05:16:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it does. I've only recently been working on backgrounds, and towards the end I just got sick of the archways and decided to move on.
