It's the impending doom. A 50 megatonne 'city killer' thermonuclear megaspell. The moment when Cloudsdale and tens of thousands of ponies ceased to exist but was but the first spark of a  great nuclear cleansing: an atomic maelstrom, sparked by equine hoof but grown beyond any control.  Megaspells rained from the skies, consuming the land in an endless fire.  Whole continents burned and sank beneath the waves of the boiling oceans.  Ponykind and Zebrakind were both almost extinguished, the spirits of the tens of millions of dead mingling with the lethal radiation that blanketed the land.  Equis was all but stripped of life and a long, cold, silent darkness fell upon all that remained, one that would last many centuries.

War... War never changes.
