Description
I drew a picture of Disney’s version of the Greek Goddess Hera with her (in the movie not the myths) son Hercules a while ago and I caught the bug.Here I have drawn my four favourite Greek Goddesses as interpreted by me via Disney.
Artemis Goddess of the Moon and Hunt. Not overly fond of either of Disney’s version of my favourite Goddess (the movie and TV series did not share design, she’s grey in the movie…weird).
Athena Goddess of Wisdom. Oh she rules, I love the story of how she bested her uncle and earning the right to name Athens after her. Chuckle at the myth that she annoyed Zeus so much he ate her. And adore that when she killed her friend Pallas, she took her name and put it in front of her own as homage to her fallen friend
Aphrodite Goddess of luv. I mostly love her for her choice of husband and the reasoning behind it. She had offers from all but chose Hefaistos as he wouldn’t keep her as a trophy or try to rule her.
Persephone Goddess of spring and fertility. Not fond of Disney’s deign of her at all. I ask you, is their anyone out there who doesn’t have a special place in their hearts for the (twisted) love story of Hades and Persephone? Hades was also the only one of his brothers who stayed true to his wife and didn’t create new races and demigods all over the place.

I don't have a problem with artemis's design in theory, it works since she's goddess of the hunt but she's also goddess of the moon explaining her grey color palette in the movie

Wow you really know your myths o.o I'm Greek, I was raised with this stuff but didn't remember most of the things I read in your description XD The ancient Greek Gods myths can be quite silly at times XD

I just know a little, I used to listen to some of them as a child.
Dyslexics back in the 90s had a the limetead taps to listen to that the local library provided

Aaah that sure helps with remembering stuff. It's much easier to remember a voice saying something than to remember reading it somewhere. I used to read them as a child too I had finished the whole history book way before the end of the school year (yes the history book in the 2nd grade was all about myths XD) but I don't remember most of that stuff now XD

These all look awesome.... But is it just me or is greek mythology a little tiny bit messed up? I mean alarm bells rung when I heard that Hades married his niece who was the child of his sister and brother and also when I heard that Hera tormented Hercules until he ended up killing Megara and their children. Now I see that Athena 'annoyed Zeus so much he ate her' and 'she killed her friend Pallas, she took her name and put it in front of her own as homage to her fallen friend' that rings the bells too. I hope the Greeks don't still do all this shit...

It is colpleatly messed up but I think that was by choice. it becomes a lot more interesting that way so when the myths originated I think it was a clever thing to add in.
I dubt it, currently I think they try to regain some economy and don't much care what old myths said

Artemis is my absolute favorite, I adore her! The Disney version is a little funky. I personally disagree with Disney too, I always imagined her as more Katniss Everdeen rather than kind of Flinstone-ish. I absolutely adore your work and I truly wish I could draw Disney characters as well as you. You are awesome!

and reading your description, did Aphrodite choose Hephaestus as her husband in the Disney series? Because I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but in the Greek mythology I thought she was very reluctant to marry him.

Whoa, so cool! They all look so cool in the Hercules style! I mean, Athena and Aphrodite were already in the movie, but still. I really like your interpretation of Artemis; for some reason I tend to envision her in more blue or grey colors, but she looks great in earth tones, and it really fits! And I absolutely love Athena, my favorite Greek goddess.

Athena is way cool. She's one of my favorite mythological figures. It's a shame most of the gods and goddesses were relegated to mere one-scene wonders in Hercules. So much wasted potential...
