Description I've been cosplaying about three/four years now... and I've done LOTS of different kind of makeups during that time. For myself, but also for my friends. AND I've been in theatre for over 10 years (back in the days) so I know something about doing makeup.

I've already thought about having somekind of "how to do makeup"-lesson with my friends, but never have gotten the time/chance..

and now at the Desucon someone asked me why wouldn't I keep somekind of program about doing cosplay-makeup...

Thought about it a while this evening and I even asked how many would come if I did something like that.. since I got positive responses, ended up doing this.

I really want to make a better version of this tutorial when I can use better camera and some real models..

But do you want to see more like this? Tips on making your eyes look like some particular character etc. All kinds of feedback/tips/comments are highly welcome.

ps. I'm really not a professional. I'm complitely self-learn.
pps. I know I have bags under my eyes... I didn't do any base-makeup before this.

Thanks for this! I've been going nuts looking for a good eye-makeup and I haven't found one...until now! One question, for Pencil Eyeliner (which is what I currently have as my option) how do you avoid the smudging in the lower part of the eye and the 'crumbling' over the eyelid?

You're welcome, glad you found it useful.

There isn't really a 100% safe way to avoid smudging/crumbling... but you can always try water-proof liner. Most of the make-up firms have at least one option. They might be a bit more expensive, but are worth the money. Also take notion on not to rub your eyes. After few hours your eyes might get a bit "tired" if they are not used to makeup and instinctively you start rubbing your eyes with your hands.

(Hope this helps.. and have fun with testing different styles! )

No problem.

Ah, okay, got it! I've been practicing with the pencil eyeliners, since I rarely put make-up on myself at all, but I'll probably get a liquid one then. Thank you!

Another question that doesn't have to eyeliner, but more with make-up per say, is a Foundation always required? Or is it alright to use some Concealer and Powder only?

(Thank you! You've been very helpful. )

Concealer and powder are fine in every-day life... but I usually prefer foundation when it comes to cosplay and such. No matter how good condition your skin is, you can not get the same smoothness as the characters without foundation.

(Here to help when ever I can. )

Wow, thanks for this!! Recently, I was able to notice a cosplayer did her eyeliner in the 'older guy' manner and thought of following it, then this appeared!!!

It's like fate!

Haha, I'm hopeless when it comes to makeup (hey, I'm a guy, was never taught xD) so I thought this to be helpful! Thank you so much!

I wasn't ever taught ether.

The best way to learn how to do makeup is just to try, make mistakes and try again. It takes a lot of patience, but everyone can do it!

Thanks for the advice! Should I be able to steal my mother's make-up for more than a couple minutes, I'll give it a try xD

Or you can buy some cheap ones for yourself.
