ok, so this is my first ever fractal...I used Apophysis and photoshop...
I'm new to this...

it's like a mathematical equation that repeats itself over and over to make those crazy lines...the mathematical possibilities to creat things are virtually unlimited from my estimation...

Not bad, not bad at all! I think you need to render the fractal at a higher quality - I tend to go for 1280x1024 with 1000 quality. (It takes forever, but it's worth it!) And make sure you render to a PNG if you're going to edit with Photoshop, because that renders with a transparent rather than black background. (You may know this already, but just making sure!) Mostly, render at a higher quality and the lighter waves at the edges of the piece will look less like noise and more like, uh, fractally goodness.

awesome! and yeah, thanks...I've got one rendering on the computer downstairs at 2000 and it resembles a wolf. I'm hoping to not screw it up in photoshop. I love it though, I can finally put my calculus knowledge to real world applications

I've never done a fractal before and not sure exactly how you do them but this looks interesting. I like the variety in texture and the subtle tones in the background. Part of it almost looks like a birds wing or feathers. will you be doing anymore fractals in the future?
