Description
This is the infamous highway curve that can fool a foreign driver who is unfamiliar with the local roads.
The locals know this curve as "Curva de Estrada do Diabo"...Devil's Highway Curve.
Occasionally, there would be a night that Devil's Highway Curve would claim the live of an outsider who is not from the local area...especially when someone tries to use the Northeast to Menongue Road (the road that curve is on) during the night as a race track.
The locals know these roads very well, thus you would not hear of a local being fooled by Devil's Highway Curve.
In fact, if the locals knew of an outsider who was about to travel that road at night, they would try to talk that animal into putting the trip off until sunrise in the morning...Some may even offer lodging for the traveler at their home for the night.
Because the Cunene Province is the most poverty stricken province in Angola, funds are not available to install safety guard rails on that curve.
