Description EDIT: Last batch of characters added.

I wanted to make a character chart of some of the heroes and villains that appear in my Roach comic idea ( [link] ). It’s labeled Work-in-Progress because it is still incomplete. There will be 26 characters in total and I will post them in batches of five (except for the fouth batch, which will be a batch of six).

And yes, some of the names/costumes you see here will be purposely made very, very lame and/or cheesy since I’m not planning to make a serious superhero/supervillain comic. Rather, I’m planning to make a sort of parody.

Batch 1:

Roach – The supertheif alter-ego of Basilio Galawgaw (refer to above link). The Roach suit he wears is a powerful machine that was mostly made out of a stolen military prototype for a combat exoskeleton. It is controlled via a direct neural interface with the wearer and is capable of ground, air, and underwater combat. The right arm is a grabber arm and the hand is attached via a metal cable that can shoot out of the arm at high speed, far extending Roach’s grabbing range. The left arm houses a powerful beam weapon.

VG – The superhero alter-ego of Vivian Galawgaw, Basilio’s sister and unwitting arch nemesis (refer to above link). Unlike most superheroes, Vivian and her sidekick, Len-T, have sort of bargain-basement weapons designed by a renegade former military weapons designer out of junkyard-obtained stuff. Still, she and her sidekick are not to be taken lightly. Her paintball gun is loaded with capacitance gel (a gel like substance that can hold a powerful charge) filled paintballs while her soda-can grenades are filled with an even more volatile cap-gel mixture.

Len-T – The superhero sidekick alter-ego of Vivian’s neurotic best friend, Lenard (refer to above link). Like VG, he has bargain basement weapons that are still pretty powerful. His preferred pieces of equipment are a ray gun (powered by a more stable mixture of cap-gel) and a first aid kit. He and Vivian form a duo know as “Team Vigilante”, hence the names VG and Len-T.

Lord Armorface – Your standard megalomaniacal mad genius with delusions of grandeur. As such, his dearest wish is—surprise, surprise—world domination. He has a group of henchmen (the females in the group prefer the term “henchpersons”, XD) at his beck and call. But, undoubtedly, it is his daughter, Red Mantiss, who is the most competent of his troops.

Red Mantiss – The daughter of Lord Armorface. Unlike her father, she doesn’t like all the usual supervillain megalomania and prefers to just get the job done. And she rarely withholds displaying such sentiments to her father. She is a martial arts master and arms herself with two titanium-alloy vibro-slashers.

Batch 2:

Mr. (Dr.) Hayes – Hayes—real name Josh Yerkes—was former military weapons designer who faked his own death since he didn’t want his inventions to be used for war. He now works as a school janitor under his assumed name and—to hide his identity— sports a shorter haircut, thick glasses (he really doesn’t need them to see and the lenses are just ordinary, flat glass), and tanned skin. He still makes some high-tech equipment from junk because he originally hoped to become a superhero and to use them for good, but he wasn’t really that good at it. He later gives his high-tech inventions to VG (Vivian) and Len-T (Lenard) in the hopes that they can use them they was he wanted them to be used. He now acts as a sort of “boss”, weapons/equipment maker, and “tech-support” for VG and Len-T.

Masked Paperboy – He is a young paperboy who has strange powers over paper and uses them to be a superhero. He basically uses his powers along with some quick origami to make powerful weapons out of the newspapers he has in his bag. When all else fails, there always the handy dynamite-wrapped-in-newspaper option.

Allan Gibraltar – Allan is a late-20s advanced programming and robotics prodigy. Works for ValTech—the company owned by Linda’s father (refer to above link)—and serves as the main designer for Project: Hypotenuse, a ValTech contract with the US military in which they design advanced, robotic combat exoskeletons. When Roach steals the most advanced exoskeleton prototype, he is sent along with the recovery team to serve as a consultant and to analyze the performance of the other exoskeletons used for the recovery.

NSA Agent Abigail Scissa – She is a brash, Type-A agent sent by the NSA to recover the stolen exoskeleton prototype since a super thief with advanced military technology is definitely a threat to national security. Her pushy leadership style often grates on the military members of the recovery team, especially since she is technically a civilian. Still, she doesn’t take crap from anyone and will happily chew out anyone who does so.

Major Orson D. Nate – The major is the head test pilot of Project: Hypotenuse’s exoskeleton test pilot team made up of specially chosen men from the US Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy. The head of the Project sends him and his team out to recover the prototype Roach stole. He is resentful of the fact that the NSA insisted on making Agent Scissa the recovery team’s leader. This often causes conflicts between them and forces Allan Gibraltar to act as an unwilling mediator.

Batch 3: (This entire batch will feature combat exoskeletons from Project: Hypotenuse. There’s a common trend in the names of these exoskeletons and the three people right before it. The hint is in the project name, try to figure it out.)

VERTEX – (VERsatile Tactical EXoskeleton) An experimental combat exoskeleton developed for ground troops by Project: Hypotenuse. The VERTEX can increase the speed and strength of the wearer and its armor can take a lot of punishment. The variant seen here is one armed with a machine gun for each arm, though other variants can feature flame throwers or beam weapons in the place of the machine guns.

APEX – (Aerial Patrol EXoskeleton) Pretty much like the VERTEX except it has wing and jet engine attachments enabling the wearer to fly. However, the bulky wings mean that the APEX isn’t very versatile on the ground. It is armed with a machine gun on each arm, though another variant can feature beam weapons in place of the machine guns. The tubes on the wingtips each contain a multi-purpose mini-missile.

SINE – (Submersible Independent Nautical Encasement) Unlike the pervious two suits, the SINE isn’t built primarily for combat. It is built for deep recovery/rescue or underwater mine sweeping operations. The laser cutters on its arm are built for use in the stated missions, though the SINE can be used for sabotage by using the laser cutters to cut holes in enemy vessels or slicing off their propellers. It maneuvers underwater via the backpack attachment which acts like an underwater version of an astronaut’s MMU (those big backpack-like things astronauts use to maneuver during EVA).

COSINE – (Combat-Optimized Submersible Independent Nautical Encasement) A combat upgrade of the SINE. Unlike the other underwater suit, the COSINE flies through water via an APEX-like system. Two water-jets push it through the water while the wings and fins maneuver it. It has beam emplacements on the forearms which can be dialed-down for use as cutters or dialed-up for use as weapons. The tubes on the wingtips each contain a mini-torpedo. Since the warheads on the mini-torps are small, it is programmed to go after its propellers for maximum damage.

TANGENT – (Tactical Aerial/Nautical/Ground ENcasement Technology) A suit that combines the abilities of the VERTEX, APEX, and COSINE; though it can’t go as deep as the COSINE. The small, folding wings aren’t as bulky as the ones on the APEX/COSINE enabling it to still be effective on the ground. To this end, the jet boosters and water-jets can retract into the back (in the same mysterious way XJ-9’s various gadgets can retract into her small body ). Like the COSINE, it is armed with a multi-purpose beam weapon on each arm. This advanced prototype was what Roach stole and incorporated into his Roach suit.

Batch 4:

Dr. Entropy – once a brilliant experimental physicist and mathematician who turned crazy after trying to prove that p = np. Despite his schizophrenic state he still retained his brilliant mind. It was with his brilliant mind that he built the CHAOS (CHrono-Altering / Oscillating-Space) inducer, a device strapped onto his left arm that can literally manipulate a portion of the surrounding reality into something akin to a hippie music video.

Fowler the Super Rooster – a rooster which—due to a convenient series of events—mutated into an ultra-smart, super rooster who has a penchant for speaking with a fake British accent and goes around in a high-tech, device-crammed mechanical egg. His goal is to make all chicken-kind into the new rulers of planet Earth.

Batter – now, what’s a superhero/supervillain parody comic without a gratuitous Batman spoof? As a boy, multi-billionaire Deuce Duane witness his parents killed in a horrible beaning accident at a local baseball stadium. This traumatized him so much it made him dedicate his life to fighting crime as a baseball-themed hero. Doesn’t make any sense? Well, it ain’t supposed to. To put it mildly, Deuce hasn’t been as well in the head as many would like. And his crime fighting activities (i.e., fiascos) have been the bane of the existence of his butler, Randolph, and his ward, Nick Jasen. His weapon of choice is a high tech, gadget-loaded baseball bat.

Pitcher – and what’s a Batman spoof without a Robin spoof. Nick Jasen was just a homeless orphan who barely eked out a living until he was adopted by multi-billionaire Deuce Duane. But his initial elation at being adopted by someone who was loaded evaporated when he learned that Deuce was off-in-the-head Batter. He now goes with batter no so much to fight crime as to keep his adopted father—and source of a good, high-class life—from getting himself seriously hurt. He mainly uses baseball bombs as weapons to keep with Batter’s baseball theme.

Ms. Holla – a small time crook until yet another convenient accident gave her superpowers in the form of an ultra-powerful voice. Don’t call her a loudmouth though, or you’ll end up at the receiving end of a literally ground-shattering shriek.

Heroic Guy – yet another Superman-like stereotypical superhero. Big muscular body, heroic chin, laser vision, super strength, ability to fly ridiculously fast, near indestructibility, and whatnot? Yup. A too-perfect sense of good and evil, an overeager attitude, lame lines, franchising deals, and fans? Yup. A corporate sponsor/owner… Wait, say what?! That Heroic Guy is so perfect that one could swear he wasn’t human all boiled down to one simple fact: he wasn’t human. Heroic Guy is actually a robot sponsored and built by ValTech (the same company who built the previous mechanical exoskeletons). And he never fails to advertise for his home company after every heroic deed.

Batch 5:

Iron Overbite – Leader of Team SHUM (Super Hyper Ultra Mega—they couldn’t decide on a proper name ). A superhero who wears a high-quality alloy mask made to look like a nerdy head with a massive overbite. His bite is definitely worse than his wheezy bark.

Flow – Team SHUM’s unofficial second-in-command. Has a cool head and usually makes better decisions than the overbearing Iron Overbite. She can control water in all it’s forms (liquid, solid, gas, or combos of any of the three). She travels around via a surfboard pushed onward by a wave she makes with her powers.

Flame – Flow’s younger sister. A freakishly super-peppy woman who was, unsurprisingly, a cheerleader from elementary to college. She can control fire and is usually seen waving to fireballs around in her hands like pompoms. But despite her somewhat disturbing perkiness, her flame attacks are devastatingly powerful.

Mr. Fab – Team SHUM's average muscle-bound superhero with super strength, flight abilities, and other such standard superhero stuff. Oh, and did I mention that he’s… uh, how should I put this… effeminate. Er… right…

Architect - the last member of Team SHUM. A martial arts expert who uses measuring tools (meter stick, T-square, rulers, protractors, etc.) as weapons. Not one to be underestimated, his skills plus the composite alloy "weapons" he carries are a formidable combination.

Well, that’s all for now. Drawn by hand, colored on PhotoStudio.

Okay, first off, i have not stopped smirking for the past 15 minutes i've been scrolling up and down to refer to one character after another as I read their descriptions. Secondly, your character designs remind me of Dexter's Lab ala Hey! Arnold with a blend of sci-fi. The character descriptions remind me of Robert Ludlum's Road to Omaha. And I just can't stop smirking.

Good work. I hope to read your comic.

Wow, this is quite a line-up that you have. Coolness, with a bit of interesting characters, all mixed into something that could be pretty sweet later on. I kind of see pieces of Teen Titans, Codename: Kids Next Door, and Hey Arnold! when I look at all of this.

Nonetheless, I think that you've done some great work here; keep up the good workings.

Lord Armorface XDDDD He looks like a geek in cosplay. But I think that's an awesome look XD

When I saw the suits, at first I thought they were like... a panel of armored guards who would serve as comic relief. XD That woulda been cool too.

Have I mentioned yet that I freaking love that roach? <3 And I like VG for some reason. I dunno. I do.
