Description
Astra is the 2nd puppet that I worked on, but the first on finished. She jumped the line to be presented to my mother for the holidays. Mom is an amateur astronomer who has a locally infamous pink telescope names Astrea: The Star Maiden that she takes out for enrichment excercises and stargazing gatherings, which often have a lot of children present, so I thought Astra was a great personality fit. he's been having a lot of fun with her new partner.

The base patterning was done with the Roly pattern from the simple series from Projectpuppet.com, who make fantastic patterns that are solid foundations to build upon. This was then customized to have a star around the basic head shape, and I painted tiny stars and galaxies on her black body (plus rhinestones, of course. SPARKLY!
