Description
From the mythological story. This is the scene where Psyche sneaks in with a lighted lamp to steal a glimpse of her (previously unseen - he only appeared to her in darkness) husband. By seeing him, she loses him.This was a pen and ink commission that I had so much fun working on, and liked so much that I decided to color it on the computer. I "cheated" to get my color palette, in that I downloaded a few Rembrandt paintings, and sampled a range of colors from them to get the lamplit, subdued coloring that I wanted for this one.

he's a bit more buff than i would have thought eros to be...really like that sort of bolster pillow in the front corner, especially that bit of meander...*train of thought wanders* hey, i should go back to my psyche story...thanks for the inspiration!

Well, the pic wa a commision for a couple who wanted a focus on the sensual aspects of the story, so I kind of went all out there.

wht blows me away is the intense attention to all the details... from the little designs on her dress to the shading on his wings... truly wonderful to look at.
