Description
This is my first leather tooling/carving experiment. I have since discovered that my leather was nowhere near damp enough, so my marks were rather shallow. I'll do better next time! I LOVED the way I could shape the design around itself to give more dimension to it. It's designed to hang from a hidden hole in the wing behind the head. Now my studio smells like raw leather. Weird

This is fantastic, i'm just about to start on a small leather project myself, this has given me a bit of inspiration. Hopefully mine will turn out as good!

Raw is just fine (though it freaks the cats out) it's when it's wet and starts to smell fishy that bothers me. It's just NOT right.

Love the wet smell too, as long as it's not too wet

Right now it's hanging on the fireplace screen because I can't decide if I want to make a pin out of it, or a necklace. Decisions decisions...

I love the smell of leather but have only ever made moccasins from kits or patterns my stepfather used to make bags and woodsmen coats from leather as well as boots and moccasins

I love the smell of leather! I have never tried leatherwork, but I have tried woodburning. They are probly similar, I would think. Leather is probly more difficult to get it to look right, though. You did a very nice job!

This looks like it was lots of fun. Painting on things 'other' is one of my favourite things, of course I love looking at them too.

Fun, yes, but apparently I need to figure something out for doing the leatherwork because my back hurt SO bad the next day. My desk or chair must not be in the right position for doing this kind of thing. Ouch!
