Defiler was one of my favorite Zerg units; you've done him great justice. I like how you didn't buff him up to the level of the previous Zerg redesigns, since he's basically the 'spellcaster' and should be vulnerable.

cheers!
Yep, I didn't want it to look like he could be much use directly in a scrap, but he did have to be pretty fearsome since if he's really pushed he can devour an Ultra for extra energy . . .

Yeah, Defiler! Always has been one of my favorite units.
I'd always envisaged the Defiler as playing host to numerous bugs and parasites on its body. I like how you added another set of "mouths". It can Devour Zerglings through its neck!

Zerglings? The damn thing can devour Ultralisks if it feels like it . . .
hehe. Cheers!

the defiler has always been, in my view, the unit Zerg more horrible, malignant and symbol of Zerg infestation. I loved this version.
however he is using dark swarm or plage?

Dark swarm; hence the orange and the bugs.
Yeah, I felt I had to give it a pretty nasty feeling...

Great work again. I didn't like the defiler before but this version makes me want to see it in 3D. It actually looks threatening now.
A few peeps in a Stacraft forum (with no DA account) want me to ask: are you considering doing any units from the other races after being done with the Zerg?
Great work as always.

I've always though Defiler is way scarier than Infestor.

Meh, while I adore new Infestor artwork, the unit itself is way raw still. There's ton of work that needs to be done.
Defiler with its abilities is so well thought through - almost to perfection.
Anyways props for you. Always enjoying your work.

Just out of curiosity: are you planing on doing all SC1 Zerg units? Even Scourge and Broodling?

Another spectacular piece! I love the intricate details, and the swarm is awesome!
Though I think it might do it some good if you added some more colors to the defiler itself; maybe some putrid greens or a little of the orange as little glowing sacs or something.
But it's still awesome!

Either way, I enjoy looking at the process an artist goes through when working. I suppose my somewhat interest in da Vinci's works caused this.
